Note: several of you asked... Yes, the letters we're produced from REAL bacteria growing on an agar plate after I "wrote" the word BACTERIA with a cotton swab dipped in a liquid culture of each strain.

Guessing youre using a UV transilluminator to excite the fluorescent proteins? Know you can do this with GFP, never tried with RFP or YFP.
