 This was my first idea for this challenge, before the challenge was announced. I figured a speed challenge was on the way, so I did some pre thinking about lighting, setup, and candy. I like to think about candy :)

And what is the most valentine's of all candies? The little hearts of course! So I got my wife to try a number of different mouth poses. This one with the puckered lips and the Kiss Me message seemed perfect. Took a good bit of editing as her positioning was a bit off (had to skew the image), her lips were plain (no lipstick), and the light was a little to heavy to one side. But because of the expert editing, I was confident I could make it work.

I like the end result. The candy and lips really pop. The light is fairly even but also realistic. And the details seem great.

You may or may not be aware that this is one of the photos being used in the online "publications" referenced here: DPC forum thread on LBNelert
I noticed it when I was searching for my own. There were so many from DPC that I could not document them all - if you want to have it removed, see posts from LydiaToo and Mike_311 on p. 5 of the forum thread. To locate it more easily, check both blogs and the main newsletter, starting with the dates when this challenge was in voting or shortly thereafter.

Excellent! I wish you'd picked one that was just a little clearer -- candy that is -- and centered, but who cares! Great idea wonderfully executed and I could never take my photo doing this, it would be way too creepy! Only minor nit is that the depth of field is a smidge too shallow (or smidge too deep). The lips look floating.

I love the lips and candy! Not loving looking up the nose... but still... I like this image! Fits the challenge topic well.
