After scoring Higher then expected in the Travel guide Challenge I got exited to do another challenge. This is a 10 minute and 16Euro remake of a very old shot I did once.

The old one was with a Sun-Flower and worked better, but I like the color in this too.

Just a flower (60 cents) Strapped to a 40W desk lamp, camera on tripod very near to flower, darken the room, adjust lens, app 22 and shoot....

Thanx for your CC comment Gary,

As of this week I've become a CC member myself, and I know how much time and effort goes into it.

I appreciate it, especially coming from you.

Critique Club here:

Hey Peter! I am doing one of my very rare appearances as a member of the critique club, actually I think this only my second or third time this year :) A very strong photo and submission to the backlighting challenge. In my opinion it should have placed a lot higher in the challenge, but you know how it is with flower shots and DPC :) There is not much really I can add to the comments you've already received, saying that there is not much to critisize about at all. The orange/yellow color tones work very well in conjunction with the black background and the backlighting set-up brings out those colors fantastically. The soft feel to the whole image brings in a mellow effect which I like, however the more softness you bring into a photo always brings on a decrease in detail and sharpness, so it is a very fine balance one has to take into account. I personally think there may be just a tad too much softness in this image, I would have liked to have seen just a tiny bit more detail in the petals. I am also wondering why you used ISO 1600 for this shot, did you forget to reset the camera?
All in all a shot you can be very proud of and congratulations on your 21st placing.

The contrasts, colors, use of positive and negative space, cropping were all nicely done. I can't offer any suggestions for improving this photo! Good luck.
