Challenge: The Moon II (Expert Editing)
Date: Sep 1, 2012
Date Uploaded: Sep 1, 2012

This was my most difficult entry to date. I used around 15 or so shots from which I combined them to create this scene. I wasn't sure of what I wanted to do for this challenge but I knew I needed photos so I went out and took around 200 "stock" photos. Later the idea hit me to make the moon cry and this is the result. I ended up going out about 5 times to get different shots. I am thrilled with how it came out and I have even more respect for judi, samantha and christophe for the work they are able to create. Hope you enjoy.

Wow, well thank you all for the wonderful comments, faves and bling. I took well advantage of the expert editing and shot several hundreds photos to have plenty of "stock" choices. The river and waterfall was put together from around 4 shots of the same place, some wide shots and some detail shots of running water and falls as well as a few rocks. I took several shots of various trees but in the end used just one main shot and a few branches from other trees to make the shapes I wanted. The grass was another shot and was actually the first image I took after the moon, there was a pathway but I wanted the river instead so that is where the path was. The sky was several shots layered and merged together. Of course the moon was the first image I took and that was done the night before the full moon. I also took a shot of my favorite skull to use in the moon but kept it very subdued. I put it all together and decided I wanted some wildlife so it was back out with my camera and not a bird to be found so I went out again the last day and was able to find a few birds and the elk. I created custom brushes from those images and used that to place the wildlife in. In the end I was very happy with how it came together and even made a print of it. It looks great in a frame :) Thank you all again.

When I first saw this entry, I marked it an instant FAV and am coming back now to comment! I was quite curious to see who put this one together. So rarely am I pleasantly surprised on DPC these days. So, thank you for the joy.

This looked like you put a lot of time & effort into it, a lot of thought & planning, which naturally I admire but that's not why I voted this a 10. It looks original, a direct expression straight from the heart, & it held my gaze & my interest. A little gift to me, from a then-unknown photog/artist. Good work!

You know, if your going to process the living daylights out of a photo or group of photos and are willing to run the risk of putting it out here forcing us to view it the least you could do, the very least is accept this ten because this is just simply cool.

You really made use of the Expert editing - great imagination :-). I am not totally convinced of the textured overlay, or maybe I should re-phrase, I am not convinced of that particular texture.

How origional!!! I love this, The only thing I would change is (only my opinion) I would've left out the elk, they drag my eyes off instead of the flow I get with out them.. but Love your composition!!!!
