Well this one was quite a lot of work, started off going to Canary Wharf to get some building shots, the image consists of quite a few different shots merged together and then tons of various lens blur effects added to different layers and masked to try and give a nice DOV to the receeding buildings.
Once all the buildings were together I set about tone mapping them - didn't like the effect too much in Photomatix and decided to do some different edits in colour efex pro and a little Topaz. I then did a few Hue / Sat colour changes and some selective blurring to further the DOV effect.
The next step was to get my Step Son in to his morph suit - it's light grey and a bit baggy so I had lots of work to do in photoshop tidying up the creases and then painting it red and blue and adding the plastic webbing and creating the eyes. He had to sit on a small stool so we could get the legs in the correct position and again I used my wide angle lens to take the shot, pushing the rear arm away and making the foreground arm nice and big.
I did quite a lot of dodging and burning on the character and then on the web (using a different layer so that it was easier to work on the highlights and shading on the web as that was quite tricky).
To get the eyes I painted the shapes from scratch, did the inner eye parts separately and painted in the colours, then I blurred it, (over) sharpened it, smudged it, blurred it some more and rinse until the desired result was obtained.
Added a shadow - resized, highpass sharpen and added border.
I will upload pics of various stages once the voting is over if it does well enough to warrant it.
I had an alternative to this shot but this one I specifically set out to give a comic book type feel with subdued colours in the background and the DOV blurring etc.

Hello neighbor (looks up above). Congrats on the top 10! I am a little surprised at placement for I had thought this would be in the top 5. Thanks for posting the steps process; it is truly amazing what you can do in PP with the right pieces (pictures) to create the puzzle. In the voting stage, I thought you might have used a toy of Spiderman... very impressive that you had a live model in a morph suit (those things are creepy). Great work.
Very surprised... I was sure this was going to ribbon. Your montage is awesome and the cartoonish colors are perfect for a Spiderman scene. In any case, congrats on the top ten.
Spidey looks like he is ready to jump off the big screen. Great job with integrating Spiderman into the city scene backdrop. Very well done. My only critique, and it is a small one, is that I wish there was web starting to shoot out of his aiming hand in the bottom right. It would have just completed the scene and the action of swinging to the next location.
