This is one of the reason people get low scores on legit shots.

Hi, and welcome to DPC. Looks like you're pretty new here. One of the big no-nos is merging multiple images in any challenge other than expert editing rules.

Please take some time to read and learn the rules, because if this image is an example of your creative eye, I look forward to seeing more!

I too, can see the white halo around the door
04/18/2012 07:17:10 PM
Despite the illegal composite, and not having the original...am I the only one who sees the bright rectangle of lightness or dodging around the door? It stands out quite a bit on my monitor. Just really want to know if this is what people find acceptable in ribbon winning photos now?

Sorry to hear about the DQ. Rules is rules, but still an excellent work that I would hang on my wall.

Ah, but you should always vote as if the image was valid. I'm sure that's in the rules somewhere.

Great image anyway. I think i've been there. It's at the end of the Red Brick Road (not the yellow one that Dorothy took)

Eh, I haven't been on here to vote in years and thought from the thumbnail that arrived in my e-mail today that it was all wrong. If you look at the lighting, it's even more obvious. And the halo around the door...

Acutally, how did this get to #1 anyways? Sheesh.

Actually, this could be achieved in a single image. It reminds me of some of the stuff Coley has done.

Ah well, this would have passed in Expert Editing but not Advanced. Shame you didn't know the rules. It's still a gorgeous photo but will be DQ'ed.
04/18/2012 08:47:40 AM
Awesome shot, I hear what others are saying but a lot of building materials are called composites meaning it is made out of a resin. This would make it lightweight...right?
04/18/2012 08:16:11 AM
You certainly did your name proud and captivated us with this one. BRAVO!!
04/18/2012 06:29:17 AM

Powerful... But what is it you are saying here about putting to shots together!!
04/18/2012 02:59:02 AM
Should have taken the door with you, shame but in advance rules this is going
04/18/2012 01:12:39 AM
Arg. I love this shot.
04/18/2012 12:13:59 AM
Wonderful artwork and you should be proud of the end result... but as you said it's a composite, I think a DQ is in order. :(
04/18/2012 12:06:47 AM
I hope this isn't as you said a composite of two photos, and I am misunderstanding otherwise this will be dq'ed darn and it was such a wonderful image.
04/18/2012 12:05:12 AM
Does a composite mean that these are two photos?

Great set-up; looks like something from a fairy tale.
04/16/2012 04:54:26 PM
I like it, it shows a lot of fantasy, all tough I somehow miss the road to go further ahead.
But the red of the door contrasts beautifully with the white of the winter landscape
