Challenge: Framing (Basic Editing I)
Collection: Miscellaneous
Camera: Sony DSC-T1
Location: All Saint's Church
Date: Aug 26, 2004
Aperture: f/3.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/80 sec
Galleries: Black and White, Macro
Date Uploaded: Aug 26, 2004

Taken with my new Sony DSC-T1 point and shoot. The image quality in the originals after being used to my 300D is pretty bad, but it's such a small camera that I can be discreet and not feel like everyone is watching me... it's great! I wouldn't have felt comportable taking my bulky DSLR into a graveyard and photographing peoples graves.

Why not, I do it all the time! At least the deceased can't ask you "why?"

Great shot, Ben.

I dunno really, just with other people there it might seem a bit disrespectful? It's only a small graveyard, not one of the huuuuge ones around in the US.

Congratulations on your 14th placing. A somber study with the right decision for a sepia presentation.

The theme is a little macabre but the photo is beautiful...

Very creative; well composed. I like the fact that the foreground is sharp but that when you look through to the eternal it's hazy. 9

Very interesting concept. If the background crosses werent blurry I would have scored it between 8-10 But a 7 is not bad

It took a few moments for me to notice the crosses in the background being framed. Your image appears to be a lovely macro of the stone in the immediate foreground. Perhaps if the background was more brightly lit and the foreground was darker/in the shadows, more attention would be brought to the "framing." The OOF background and in focus foreground don't help to accentuate the concept of "framing" either, but rather puts more focus on the "frame" itself.

Cool! But that's just my taste...sharper on the background crosses would have helped too.

Fantastic! I find all the cemetary shots in this challenge very good but this is my favorite of the bunch. Great focus and textures and choice of tone. 10

Very nice. I like how the arch brakes the other sharp corners in the picture. More DOF might have done it even better, but I am not sure.

Awesome idea! Very moody, my type of photo. Nice tone too! (9)

PS: I know you from the tone you use ;)

Good luck...
