Challenge: Leap Day: In The Style Of: Natsumi Hayashi (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Olympus C-2020Z
Location: My High School Classroom
Date: Mar 5, 2012
Aperture: 3.0
ISO: 80
Shutter: 1/30
Date Uploaded: Mar 6, 2012

I set up this photo by having my friend jump in air so I could get the motion shot of her. I used an Olympus Digital Camera, and I used flash so the shot would turn out better.

I want to love this... but it's too small for me to see.

*sigh*

The gesture suggests being in the air. Having the image include the feet would make it visually more convincing. Your subject has a good expression that conveys enthusasim. Making the picture in a setting without background clutter would help the viewer appreciate it more.

The image is too small, it takes away from the quality of the photo. There is also too much blur. The lighting doesn't do the photo justice. But nice attempt.

As a photographer I truly appreciate the idea of what appears to be a class doing this challenge as a project. If this is the case then please do not be discouraged by the score... which I am sure is very low. You are allowed to enter an image up to 800 pixels wide and this is considerably smaller than that, so that is your first mistake and probably cut your score in half. A faster shutter speed would have helped freeze the subject giving the appearance of levitation. Additionally, Natsumi generally takes photographs that seem to be more natural even though they are staged. This one seems staged and is more of an action shot then a levitation shot.

If photography is something that interests you then there is no better site to learn on than this one, so please kep submitting and learn as you go.
