Kubrick's "2001" being one of my very favorite movies, this challenge and its special rules permitted me to create this little tribute. Of course, I had to involve Art and one of his friends in there! ;-)

Sources:
- Earth photo: Image courtesy of the Image Science & Analysis Laboratory, NASA Johnson Space Center.
- Dinosaur photo made by me at home, using a toy
- Ken's face from this photo (thanks Ken for letting us use your portfolio!)
- Baby photo from a free stock website
- The rest was created directly in Photoshop (stars, bubbles, light)

Since most of this picture is not coming from my own photos, I don't feel like putting it in DPCPrints. However, should you want the full-sized picture, just drop me a message and I'll send you a download link.

Thanks all for the great comments and votes, I'm glad some found it funny!

One of the best part, to me, is that the thumbnail looks like the part on the left is a face staring right at me.

well put together, Christophe! Congrats on another Blue (very fitting color for this image) and another monster score. At this rate, pretty soon you'll reach average score 7. That would be something! :)

Not really... cameras were in fact involved, even if *mine* only captured the dinosaur. That said, I agree with you, and I suppose we won't get other challenges that permit using others' photos anytime soon, which is for the best.

Hmmmmm...I'm a little surprised to see this one with the blue. Somehow, this image leaves me somewhat chilled and mystified. I miss the hugely dramatic fire & brimstone and outrageous sense of humor that I always find so immensely satisfying in the work of Art Roflmao. Oh well. But, of course, your processing is impeccable as usual. ;-)

I think that the site cuncil shouold consider to remove you from particpating challenges you can't be challenged..:)

Thanks a lot! I decided to not enter that much this year, only cherry picking the challenges that inspire me. This way, I can afford to spend more time than before on a single image.

Not fair, this was supposed to be no.1 in your profile... you seem immune to the Art curse.
Another great movie poster, Christophe! The Artbaby looks mean :).

Can you briefly explain how you made those stars? They are very realistic!

Thanks a lot!
The stars were essentially made out of noise:
- created a layer, filled with black
- added noise (about 10%, monochromatic)
- played with levels until most of the dots were gone
- duplicated the layer a couple of times: the copy were re-sized randomly (to create differently sized stars)
- then I painted randomly black on these layers masks, to create areas with less stars
- I also used the cloning tool to even obtain a higher density of stars at some locations
- Dodged the high density locations, to make them brighter
- Painted some dark blue "clouds" for a "spacey" effect

Totally fooled me with your "loaned" image. I could have sworn this was you, then I saw Godzilla falling through your "fence"... Congrats on the ribbon for this splendid tribute :-)

Ohhhhh please tell me you will have a print available?! Top notch and brilliant! I would guess this is Art's entry, but since I am Art, I have to guess it's someone almost as good. :P In any case, you have clearly illustrated the story of my origins. Blue will look good on this. :)
