I agree totally and annah is a good choice for a gift membership.

First of all, I think that what you are doing is really nice. :)

I would like to add my suggestion for annah. I was going to suggest her, and then noticed someone already had, so I definately agree with that. She seems like a young photographer with a ton of natural talent.

Great suggestions so far. Anyone else? I'd like to make a decision in the next day or two. Thanks! :)

I'll plug myself! I haven't renewed my membership because any spare money that comes my way is being invested in equipment. But, I don't participate in a lot of challenges, so consider me last.

I was going to plug myself also, but you have to just love a name like ragamuffingirl

I nominate Brielle. She is super talented and is an active participant. Some of my favorite photographs were located in her portfolio and it's GONE!! Don't know why she didn't renew, but she's so sweet and I hate to see her talent go to waste.

I also agree that annah would be a good choice.

I nominate anyone that doesn't have money and doesn't have $2000 worth of camera equipment. But wants to participate more then me.

I agree with this 100%. Anyone who has lots of expensive equipment can afford $25 for a membership.

I disagree (obviously) there have been a couple of posts around here just recently by people who saved for so so so long to be able to buy their dSLR. I, personally, had my 30D on lay-away almost 6 months. Actually, I originally put a 20D on lay-away, then switched it. But, that included working some serious over-time AND trading in my old camera. *I* don't go out the movies, I rarely go out to eat (except at meets), I only buy new clothes if it's absolutely neccessary, make-up, getting my hair done...what's that? I sacrifice to buy a few pieces of a equipment a year because my photography is the thing that will give me the most pleasure in the long run, and because I dream of being something other than a social worker...or at least making enough from my photography that combined with my social worker pay, I'm more financially comfortable than I am now. And, I don't think I'm the only DPCer in that position.

Melissa I respect you more than you know but even one extra hour overtime or if you would have stayed with the 20D you could afford a couple of years membership here.

I'm considered salary now and can't get overtime anymore. But, if I could, I'd have a whole lot more stuff. ;-) I will eventually re-up my membership, but not until I've paid off my current lay-away (really nice strobe set up used for $600). Cross your fingers that I get that wedding I quoted a price on because then I can get my strobe AND a membership.
PS: I think Dax, if she's still around, is really good too. All my other favorites currently have memberships.

Melissa, I was going to recommend to laurie that you would be the perfect candidate for one of the free memberships based on your activity on this site. But that was before I realized which camera you own. To be honest with you, I probably will ever be able to afford the 30D.

I have been thinking about something for a some time now. I have many photos those I took around last year, and many of them I feel might become good prints.
I do not have time to do post processing on them. I feel if someone could do post processing on them I could allow them to be put as prints on my account.
If it sells the money goes to the person who did post processing on them, so that he could buy membership out of it.
So this way, some people get chance to buy membership without having to ask others to buy it for them.
(this is a rough sketch of what I feel, feel free to refine modify etc).

I've decided to give memberships to two promising young people, in the hope and faith that they continue using their gifts and sharing their wonderful talents with the DPC community... annah and arsenal. I have also sent bear_musica renewal membership since he has given so much advice to me and to others here. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and messages. I appreciate it! :)
