Here in the Phoenix area we have now hit 102 days without measurable rain. There is nothing but sun in the 10 day forecast, and they are saying it should be pretty dry through April!!! With a wet winter last year, there is a lot of brush out there that has now just dried up and is waiting to catch fire. I fear it's going to be a nasty fire season this year.
Anyone know a good rain dance?

Thats why I'm leaving the valley this summer for the humid air of Wisconsin. Didn't they just lift the campfire ban a couple of months ago? I wouldn't be suprised to see that go back in to place soon.

I have been trying to work out a weather-swap deal with your state and Western Washington, but so far talks have bogged down because of all the mud slinging up here. ...not to mention mud sliding.

must... get... sunshine... *gasp* *weez*

You can try the Heikki Lunta Dance. It's more for snow but precipitation is precipitation. I'm sure the temps would turn it to rain anyway.

It does work - good luck!

I feel your pain...we FINALLY had a near-24 hour rain overnight/today, after 90-someodd days without measurable rain in most parts of north central TX. Of course, we need rain in nearly-Noah proportions to offset the drought of the past year...they say if we don't get at LEAST 15 more inches by March, this summer will be dust-bowl city. :(

Be more than happy to share some rain. Forks, WA. Only a couple of days since the end of Oct. that we haven't had some.

I am one of those Seattle-ites who is growing webbing between her toes from all the rain.
Today I went as far as buying a "daylight" light bulb because I am sooooo sick of seeing nothing but grey.

The bulb is great - I have it pointed at the ceiling behind me and it feels like I am sitting under a skylight on a bright day. Now when I try really really hard, I can even recall what sunshine looked like.

Day 114, no rain. It is overcast today but they say no chance of rain.

There is a big fire in process, about 1300 acres after a couple days, and that isn't even in the real dry area. As this one starts making the news I'm betting they will close access to all the forest land. So much for hiking this year...

10 day forecast does say there is a chance of rain next Friday!

Laurie beat me to it. :) Our lake here is so dry that hardly any of the docks have water under them. They are also pumping water out of here non stop to supply a lake in Ft. Worth that supplies them with water. If we don't get some rain we won't even be able to get on this lake this summer. Do a rain dance for us too!

Its pretty dark and dreary down here in Tucson, no rain yet but the newscasters warned that people should be cautious of wildlife coming into the city for food and water. I'm almost smack dab in the middle of town and I have seen an increase in cayotes and javelinas but thankfully, no mountain lions. Definately keeping an eye on my cats.

Day 148, captains log: Whats that mysterious bright shape in the sky?

That is the sun cap'n! A rare commodity for Britains.

Day 144 WE GOT RAIN!!! And lots of it. It's 3:30pm and it's been raining at least since I woke up at 7am (that does not happen often in AZ). Rain gauge in the yard says over 3"!

We've got snow too, and not just in the high country! If it stops raining I'll be able to get snow photos, in southern AZ.

Obviously a bit late now but I couldn't help thinking about this with the discussion of rain/snow dances.

Here in San Francisco, we just had our second day of hail storms. My daughter played in the snow and ice this morning on the California coast.

Just to give everyone advance warning, if I see any frogs or locusts outside tomorrow, I'm joining a cult.

WOW - You people have got strange weather. Luckily here in Richards Bay, Kwa zulu Natal, South Africa the weather is very predictable. Every day hot and humid with every second day rain.
Must say that this year South Africa had more rain than previously with a couple of floods occuring in Johannesburg and Bloemfontein.
In Richards Bay it is not strange if it rains for days non-stop - winter or summer.
