I'm surprised at the lack of comments...only 3 and none offer much help in justifying the score. I thought my picture would create a little more emotion, hence more comments (good or bad). Oh well, only my second challenge and the score so far is a little higher than the first challenge.

I'm really excited cause this is the highest score I've ever had!! Only my third challenge mind. Hope it stays this high I will be well pleased.

I know there are a ton of pics to judge this time, but it's incredibly frustrating to be watching and get 3's and 2's and have no clue what it is people don't like. Is it the composition? Is it the lighting? Is it some technical issue that is particular on your list? Or is it you simply don't like the subject matter?

| On the subject of comments - just wanted to say that I try and comment but don't really feel that I can sometimes - I am not very 'techy' and could'nt really offer any advice about the settings of the picture. Judging is a very subjective thing and I don't really want to post a comment telling someone that I just don't like thier picture? Not sure what the answer is cause I like to get comments. |

Seems to be staying in the 4.7 to 4.8 range after a day. Most likely won't see it jump up or down much for the rest of the competition IMO. I really thought this one was going to be a better entry than slightly less than a 5. Oh well... c'est la vie.

Comments need not address the technical aspect at all. Just expressing what you feel is often more effective. Words need not be fancy either. The object of an image is to create an impression in the viewer. Of course, if the technical side happens to be terrible then the impact is diluted and you will find something lacking. So, do not worry about the technical realm. In a good image technique should never stand out but remain subservient to the message of the image. Yes, there are some images that scream, look at me, I dazzle. This is true and there are some very nice images in which technique trumps the message, but nevertheless, there must always be a message/impression in order for it to survive. |

just remember that a comment is a comment - not a critique ... it's an opinion ... if you dont like something about my images i want to know - then i can learn from it :) - cause i bet someone else doesnt like it either - so dont worry - if someone's comments are more constructive than a "nice shot" or so they thats cool too... we are all here knowing that some comments are just if you like something or not ... at least that's the way i look at it :) - i like any kind of input i can get :)

Still in my 4's and I know I won't make it up to 5, but as I said, it's a matter of loving or hating and that's ok with me and I got good useful comments too, to wich I don't always agree, but some have a point to consider and everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion.

still falling! and only one comment( nice one tho)..i have already left 40 some comments and still have about 440 to go make this week. my goal is to comment on everyones photo( i know..huge goal but i really have nothing better to do during the day)

I've viewed and voted on each image at least once. Commented on 4 so far. A few things stand out:
Overall, there are far few images %wise that suffer from bad focus.
Overall, there are more undersized images than usual.
I am impressed with the imaginations people show.
A consistent negative for me in this challenge is the fact that quite a few images disregarded their background when composing their images. Background, like frame/border and title, are part of an image. I am not rating an object, I am rating a presentation.
Overall, I love more images in this challenge than any other challenge. There are some really great shots here!

As others have already hinted. Tell them if you liked the colour or not, tell them if you liked the composition or not. What would you have done differently? Where were your eyes drawn to first in the image? What did it make you feel or think about? Often this is the information people need much more than "a larger aperture would be good".

| decided to enter a crap photo to see what happens, as a good photo seems to get shafted by voters without cameras averaging about 4.5 less than the commenters, so cant see the point at the moment. but that's just me. |

Started at 6.9 after 20-odd votes, plunged inexorably to 5.1ish after 60 or so votes, slowly inching back up, in the 5.3's after 136 votes. Thought this one would do better, frankly.
