So far I am very disappointed with my score..I really thought this was one of my better photos for a challenge. I had a GREAT idea, but it didn't work out. OH WELL..I found this one to be better than my idea. I can't wait till the voting is over and see how low I placed. I just wish someone would leave comments so I know what they feel I did wrong. Too bad ya'll don't know who's is who's. I am preparing to vote as of now, and I am planning on commenting on at least 40%.

Well my score is slowly creeping up... at least a couple of comments have explained why it's so low now though, as it certainly wasn't obvious to me. Mental note for future... more descriptive title!

I would tend to try and get the photo to speak for itself better rather than rely on your title (though every situation is different).

Haven't entered in a while. This is my first entry since getting the 20D. I had some trouble coming up with a metal subject. I really didn't expect it to do tremendously.
First vote was a 4. Didn't think it was that bad.

looks like a lot of people are sorting into groups of 4 - 6's by the scores i'm seeing - i know i am!

Wish ppl knew that, most metals reflect a lot, like a mirror. And based on that, not judge something saying that "if the reflection wasn't that dark".
Would you rather see the ceilling of the room I shot my picture at, instead of what my pic shows!?
It's metal for christ's sake, at it's raw form! Some of it's properties should be taken into consideration before "pushing certain #" on the voting scale. |

Three times now this thread has been at the top of the list on my page and each time it has been I look and see 'Mental Scores' for some reason - but only when it is at the top.

Well, I usually start low and crawl up. I started at 7.0 but the above score is still the best score to date if it ended right now. I just hope I don't slowly crawl down past 6. |

I'm so sad - sniffle sniffle -- my picture is getting beat up. I've gotten really nice comments that they love the picture and think its great, but it hovers between 4.9 and 5.0.
I agree with Pawdrix. I think this is my last open challenge too. Last night when I saw how many entries there were, I almost pulled my picture. I sure wish I had!!! Why did y'all let me enter this one? :) I knew better!! But I still think my picture is much better than its score represents. What a long painful week this is going to be.

I must say it's getting tougher and tougher voting on 500+ shots in one challenge. Hard to keep a reference point on the shots, and they end up blending into one another.

whenever the photos start to "blend" toghether i usually take a break. i want to be totaly fair in my voting and u cant be that if u are bored with the new images

im ok with my score, it was a 2 second shot and i didnt think it would do THAT well, but its around the 6 mark atm.
not bad considering i didnt look too hard for the shot/subject - a shame some don't `get it` or can't accept abstract etc as a shot and think it needs to be a lump of lead with extreme DOF.
oh well ;)
