Well tonight we'll have Italian sausage and salad as a snack. Then ... tomorow we'll have: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cherry crisp. First thing in the morn will be our traditional holiday breakfast: Eggs a la Goldenrod.
Wish me luck making all this in a brand new kitchen at my son's apartment.
Happy holidays all.

Prawn cocktail then Turkey, Leg of Lamb, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, sprouts, carrots, swede, broccoli then Strawberry Cheesecake, Various Ice Creams, mince Pies, fruit trifle. No doubt I will manage a drink or two as well - just to get into the festive mood!

I made a traditional recipe of my grandmother's. Chicken and dumplings the slow and tedious way - 6ish hours. My kids love it and I don't make it often. Was delicious. Now we'll hang by the fire & cook popcorn and watch movies till bedtime. Tomorrow Christmas dinner with friends - will be chaotic. lol

Christmas eve - My wife's family is polish so we celebrate Wigilia on Christmas eve - no meat, lots of traditional Polish stuff - pierogi, cabbage, fish, potatoes etc. My family always did oyster stew, so that is my addition to the Christmas eve event...

yum, yum!

We celebrated Christmas yesterday as my love is a nurse and works on Christmas and we wanted a day to use our presents. So dinner YESTERDAY was - glazed ham, green been casserole, sweet potato casserole (includes small marshmallows), hot dinner rolls, iced tea or coffee. Desert was home made cookies (differnt types). Now between my not being able to walk and that meal, you can understand why I am overweight!! LOL

MAK - I agree - we all seem to be having festive food...

Tomorrow we will do Chicken Cordon Bleu - it's an excellent recipe and tastes like something you would eat at a fine restaurant - cool beans (and I can actually cook it!!!)

I would love to sneak over to brownsm's house - he's making ham, turkey and a standing rib roast - man does his family know how to cook!

All sounds so good!! In about 5 hours (at midnight) I'm flying to Florida. I will arrive on Christmas Day morning to be picked up by my mom. For breakfast she'll have bagels and lox with cream cheese and fruit.

For Christmas dinner she is fixing Cornish hens with basalmic vinegar glaze, green beans with toasted almonds - and that's all I know. She'll reveal the rest when I'm there, I'm sure.

Everyone, enjoy your holiday feasts. Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Dinner has always been the same. I think the 'traditional' dinner here is;

Turkey with stuffing, ham, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas, sprouts, carrots, cranberry sauce.

Christmas pudding with cream and brandy butter for dessert.

The chow halls are all festively decorated in red and green with trees and in one case gingerbread houses. One has letters and cards written and drawn by school kids wishing the soldiers happy holidays and a safe stay here in Iraq - they're placed under the plastic tableclothes at every seat. The menu for today (it's Christmas Day here) will include ham and turkey and all the trimmings I'm sure. What I find interesting (and heartwarming) is the folks who work the dining halls are from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangledesh, and a number of African countries. I'd say more than half do not celebrate the holiday of Christmas, but they certainly have gone above and beyond to make it very nice for those that do.

In case anyone else wants to know ... hard boil eggs, separate the whites and yolks. Make a roux then add the chopped whites. Grind the yolks to a powder like feel, Put the egg white mixture on top of toast. Sprinkle with the ground yolks.
