A couple weeks ago I got a great deal on a new Limited Edition 2004 Toyota Tundra, 4dr Double Cab 4WD pickemup truck. I traded in my 2000 Tacoma because I wanted more power for pulling my boat. The Tacoma would pull it okay, but it had to work real hard to do it.

Oddly, it’s the only vehicle I’ve ever seen that only had 1 mile on the odometer. Even the sales people at the dealership had never seen that before. They usually get at least a few miles on them just from being loaded onto ships and trucks for delivery.

I really like the truck. It rides like a Cadillac compared to all the other Toyota trucks that I’ve had. But, I guess I’ve just driven too many miles because I really do not enjoy driving at all any more. I wish the Max train came out to where I live so I wouldn’t have to drive.

This pic was taken shortly after I bought the car (for those interested in seeing it): //www.owwdee.com/gti2/gti09.jpg. Maybe C-town driver might as I see you visit Vortex and you know about Potter's shop. If you know about those two, you're a VW enthusiast for sure.

Haha, yeah I've gone into the deep end since I bought my first VW ;-)
That's a great looking GTI you got there!

Got one of those too. Gas milage sucks for sure... but otherwise it is a awesome vehicle

I drive a teal(yuck!) 1995 Mercury Tracer. Execpt for a few scratches, it is in great condition, at least eastheticaly (did I spell that right?) I had to get it fixed recently cause it just died on the highway. Turned out to be the timing belt.
What I really wanna get is a classic MiniCooper. I guess I'm in the right place to get one, I just have to find one that is old enough for me to bring back to the states as a collectible so I don't have to change anything on it to make it USspecs.
Someday, when I grow up, I'll drive a bigger, better, newer car.

Boy is this topic ever timely for me.
Right now I drive my 15 year old mountain bike with about 40,000 miles since I just trashed my 1990 Buick Skylark after the exhaust fell out of the undercarriage on a trip upstate. I would have gotten that fixed, but for almost a year the car would not go into reverse and I was getting tired of pushing it into parking spots...lol. So I didn't think it was worth paying alot of money to get those two things fixed and now I'm in the best shape of my life!

But living without a car can be a real inconvenience at times, and has limited my photography so I'm in search of another. Haven't decided whether or not to go used or new. Some cars I'm considering: Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Hyundai Accent (it's only their generous 10 year warranty that's attractive to me) or maybe a hybrid. Definitely something with good gas mileage as I plan on doing long distances.

I drive a 2001 Saab 93. Have driven Saabs since 83. They have been very reliable and comfortable. In the northeast (NH) with the snow and long winters the Saab's frontwheel drive is very good in the snow.

I've got a 2002 VW Jetta Diesel with 40,000 miles on it. It is a great car - I average nearly 50 miles per gallon and diesel is cheaper than gas. I cannot understand why there is not more demand for diesel passegner cars in this country. They are great - just ask the Europeans!

I drive a 2000 Toyota RAVA 4 (love it), or sometimes my husband's Toyota Prius (another great car). My next car is going to be another hybrid, preferably when they put out a small SUV.

Edit: Wow, I just hit the reply button and saw more VW owners posted (guess I'm a slow typer). Here's a link to my local VW club web site with pictures of my car in case anyone's interested :-)

Just had suburban living hit me like a ton of bricks... traded in my 1998 Honda Passport for a 2004 Nissan Quest (yes, I know it's a minivan) but with a 1 1/2 year old, another baby on the way in a few months and alot of out of state family, we had to cave in for the extra seating. I swore I'd never be the minivan mom, but let me tell you it's pretty damn nice having all the space and electric everything. Makes loading little ankle biters MUCH easier. :)

2004 Chevy Colorado, Inline 5-Cyl., Automatic 4WD, extended cab.

For a medium sized pick-up it is a dead sexy ride. Just slightly aggressive styling. Even with a TON on the roads these days, I still catch people eyeing it and probably thinking, "Nice..." to themselves.

It has a decent mileage rating, as long as I remember to drive it like a granny... (That's the only way to really hit those mileage raitings on the stickers...)

Being based in China this is what I drive. I really enjoy it... My wife, me and my daughter fit very nice on it and this Sunday we plan to take the first ride to the beach.

cool, i had a passport too. :) i wanted something that was along the same lines as space when i switched over to my MDX, for whatever the future may hold. and i swear this is actually bigger inside, without having a huge lumbering frame. it's snazzy looking and a blast to drive and still has electric everything and 3 rows of seats as well! i confidently take my 2 year old nephew everywhere in it. he thinks it's "pretty". ;)

Greetings all,

Just a bit of curiosity here. What do you drive for a daily vehicle?

My curiosity is based on my profession: Auto shop owner and Master Auto Technician. Personally, I drive a 1986 Toyota Camry with 243,000 miles on it, and my wife is the original owner of her 1986 Camry with 156,000 miles. (I am smart - I know where to get good used parts!! LOL ) Actually mine is well-maintained, ready to be driven anywhere at any time and recently went to Arizona with it (from CA), over the mountains & through the heat of the desert, A/C on & no problems.

So what do the rest of the gurus here drive?

Hey Brad,

I'm driving a 94 S10 Chevy Blazer.
On another note: Did you graduate from Poway High or Mt Carmel????
Or did you move to Poway afterwards? What a small world we live in. I used to work for the Poway Unified School District before moving to Colorado.
Cheers....Martin

You can always drop in a bigger motor and/or add a supercharger, racing exhaust and intake, maybe some nitrous oxide. You should be able to get 250+ ponies under the hood of that thing.

Haha, that's true, but I'm addicted to the gas mileage = P Just filled up today and calculated that I got 39 miles to the gallon over 460 miles (including 2 hours spent sitting still on the PA turnpike to go 15 miles...) Plus, I'm short on time, skills, knowledge and of course $$$ Might add the intake though, I've heard that will improve both mileage and performance.
