I really liked this shot but would like some critiques on how I could have made it better. |

There were two things that distracted me from this photo: The motion blurred background and the halo around the subject. I think a reflector might have provided enough light to not need the halo (which I'll assume was from topaz?). And the trees in the background... maybe use a lens that provides bokeh? Either way - it looks like you might have panned with the biker which caused the motion blur in the trees in the background.
Let me know if I'm assuming wrong - I'm just trying to visualize how I might have taken this shot. |

I don't know if you combined two exposures from the same RAW file or used selective curves/layers, or dodging to make the rider lighter, but you left the traces of it pretty obvious. I mean the halo around him... you could definitely avoid that with more careful processing. Otherwise, nice shot indeed. I like the point of view and the dramatic sky in the background... |

A shallower DOF, and maybe a little dodge tool (or equivalent) on his face and upper body.. |

It was a single exposure and the haloing came from my selection tool. I still haven't really learned everything about making selections...I liked the background but needed to lighten up the rider. This was shot at ramp level and up slightly to make it look like he was getting a lot of air. |

Try blurring the background to make our eyes focus on him and not the clouds. I would lighten him up too but you already did, image degradation is imminent. Maybe you won't have to if the background's blurred. |

I would maybe blur the bg slightly, lighten him and I would clone out the telephone pole. |
