I actually tried taking pictures with this one over the weekend, but I'm stingy with the shutter button - I still have 14 exposures to go before I finish out the roll. Jeez, the lack of instant gratification takes some getting used to...

I tend to forget to wind the film and wonder why the shutter will not work.

This was my mom's camera when she was a teen, and I used it as a kid. Needs a bit of cleaning and service. The tape is holding on a bit that is broken off. Anyone know the best way to glue bakelite back together?

Quoting from here
Repairing Bakelite cracks is one of the most difficult tasks in radio restoration. Anyone can glue a crack together using 'Devcon' plastic weld. But to repair a crack so that no marks are left behind is another matter. A Dremel tool is used to make such a repair. First you would cut a grove along the crack and save the dust. Also grind some more plastic dust from somewhere inside the cabinet. Mix with clear expoxy cement and fill the groove over the crack. Grind or sand the cement down. Then polish with rouge to get an even polished surface. It takes a lot of practice to get the expertise needed to make such repairs a success.
I've read similar advice elsewhere. Epoxy glue holds it well, the trick is hiding the join! Although if your part is completely broken off it's much easier than glueing a crack.

This one is far more than just a collectible for me. I bought it brand new in 1982.

Thanks Spiff, I never knew the name of that camera. I have one, so nice to know. |

I'm so busy that I can't find the time to photograph more old cameras. I should by the end of the day though. I'm shooting food, lots of different setups. I wonder why I'm always hungry. eheh |

I'm almost done taking pictures of my collection and I apparently have more cameras than there are days in the month of April... I'm thinking I may need an intervention. Please someone tell me they have more cameras than I have, make me feel a little more sane. :) |

There may be a 12 step program for that. |
