It's time once again boys and girls for the monthly Purple Prose Award ... awarded to the photographers with the best narrative of their (August in this case) Free Study entry. Check here for the back story.
My apologies for the delay. As the month began I was at Photoshop World in Vegas and we all know what happens in Vegas gets Photoshopped out in Vegas. I was home for just a week and then took off with my daughter, and son-in-law on a motorcycle tour starting in Seattle, looping around Crater Lake Oregon and back home via the Oregon and Washington coasts. I can finally reward the winning stories.
And the award goes to:
by ThingFish, and by bob350
I found 30 photos with what I considered worthy narratives. Stories that inform the photo, or describe the angst of shooting or processing, or bring a tear to the eye. From those I selected 12 finalists. Check out the fine stories offered up by these finalist fotogs:
kris11 orvaratli DrAchoo UrfaTheGreat levyj413 digichic xion hahn23 bucket ThingFish bob350 wyverndragon
Congratulations to our finalists and winners. Make sure you check out the stories of their photos! |

Just discovered this thread (new guy... getting my feet wet for 2-3 months now). Great concept! Also, I'm pleased to see that a couple of my shots (triangles, nixter) got some notice/extra-love. I'm clearly a bit behind, but I just want to say that it's been greatly appreciated!

Have long hoped that one of my images might be worthy of recognition in the Posthumous thread. Although selected for writing more than for photography this time, the honor remains high. Thanks very much.

Go back about 130 posts in this thread ... more or less August 8th or 9th and you'll find it. |

well, what do you know... I guess I'll be hanging up my hat as a writer then... I'll stick to imagery from now on. |

A ribbon winner in my book. Most of the highest ranked ones in my opinion were not high key but more high contrast with distinct shadow tones. |

High Key
this challenge was mostly a yawnfest but there were three ribbonworthy shots in it
