tag however this is usually only a problem in earlier browsers that don't autoresolve issues like this.

There's a lot of javascript on the page. Have you disabled javascript?
My site also has a lot of javascript. Maybe check it to see if the javascript is the problem. (MyGallery in my signature)
Also, in viewing the page source there seems to be a mismatched |

I'll put myself in the soon to be category then. I started about two weeks ago on istockphoto and dreamstime and have been submitting a few images almost every day.
I am trying out different things : I made a series of myself in business atire with phone and PDA, I am submitting just pictures from my tourist activities here in Denmark, I am submitting pictures from previous challenges, still life type pictures etc. All just to find out what does well and to build up a collection for a small but steady stream of downloads. Just while I am processing the images for printing myself I also select the ones which might be interesting for stock and upload them.
me with pda one download
me checking time one download
steam engine one download
engine wheels one download
tomatoes two downloads, one on istock, one ofn dreamstime
visit to Ribe one download
H2O one download
breakfast one download
So, still difficult to tell, people apparently need all kind of shots. I do expect business related shots to do better over time. I also have one in the approval queue of a reminder note (so far for creativity LOL), which I would expect to do well.

Hey I love that Green Phone...that is really cool! To get more downloads... keywords are very important...Make sure you have good keywords and make 50 keyword words if you can. The most keywords the better chances your photo with come up in the search.

For any image. I do the obvious ones, for example what the photo is of, and then the main colour in the photo, but since my photos don't have 50 subjects I can't think of 50 words. How obscure do you go with your keywords? Do you have a photo example with they keywords that you could show me?

This photo of a Camera I could use keywords like
zoom,camera,bw,cameras,digital,pixel,pixels,mega, close,closeups,macro,device,sony,lens, handheld,abstract,cool,objects,electronics, technology,equipment,metals,professional,usb,mp,silver,products, white,background,black,desaturate,memory,cards,....just to name a few!

Using too many keywords can work against you, with some stock companies at least - if their clients keep getting images that are nothing to do with what they're looking for, their clients (and yours) are not going to be chuffed.

Having to use ten keywords all of the time is pretty ridiculous. It is this requirement that is going to cause people to end up putting down some pretty obscure words that hardly relate to the image. They should just ask for three or four words with the suggetion that you may want to add more only if the words are relevant.
As for what sells, that is a tough question. Try to look at it from the users point of view. Most users are needing images to accompany an idea, be it for a brochure, an article, or other material that contains text or has a particular theme. Pretty pictures can sell but they are also more readily available through other sources. It's the need for the more obscure subjects that bring people to stock photography sites. For my latest design project I was required to use images of employees in four different settings, a bowling alley, a casino, a restaurant, and an office. Do you think these were easy to find? No way, and my client had to pay a good amount of money for the images when we finally found them. Things that you would have never dreamed of photographing for yourself can be great subjects for stock photography.

you can also look on the page listing what they're currently in need of. seems there's a big need for business related stuff. they also say they need patterns and textures. this can be some fun practice with macro mode on your digicam, or a macro lense if you're using an SLR. A good way to get some practice, and make use of your photos.
