Your big chance to join the elite!

Aaah Tareq, you and I know about space. I'd like to, but will churn out a few more Basic entries before taking the plunge.

In the âFoliageâ case itâs not only the southern hemisphere we have to apologies to, itâs the equatorial belt around the globe, both poles and all the arid and semiarid regions and almost all seasâ islands. So I say change this contest into âseasonsâ and have all wanting participate.

You didn't seem to gripe too much about the Rural Landscapes challenge.....8>)

I'd say that was a fine workaround.

Winter, snow, surf, lanscape, nudes, sky, auroras......someone's always going to have an advantage......

I cannot honestly believe, especially after your Rural ribbon, that you of all people wouldn't be sympathetic to the fact that challenges are NOT going to be all things to all people all the time.

Bingo Jeb, you hit the nail on the head. Also, none of the masters people complained when we "Non Ribbon Winners" were left out of the challenge. With the masters challenge, we simply were eliminated. If they want to shoot a foliage shot, then make a trip.

From dictionary.com
Foliage -
1. the leaves of a plant, collectively; leafage.
2. leaves in general.
3. the representation of leaves, flowers, and branches in painting, architectural ornament, etc.

Why don't the whiners just ignore the description, enter the green foliage from your area, and get a low score if people take the description literally. I might just do that.

There's always adjusting hue/ saturation. I did that once and turned a summer shot into the beautiful foliage of autumn. No one knew. :~)

Holy shizzle my clock just stopped! Jeb actually hit the nail on the head? Git outta town. Never happened! :p

Just my opinion but I think when they ran the Mars Surface Challenge, followed by the Northern Kenya Challenge immediately backed by the Lesbian Golden Retriever Challenge, people got a little bunched up. Even the "out of the boxers" were a bit miffed.

And now this? I'm just sayin...

Unless you live in a barren desert and don't have any houseplants, you can find foliage. Those who live in areas of peak color might have an edge, but then so do those with beautiful models for a portrait challenge, scenic beaches for a sunset challenge, unique buildings in an architecture challenge, zoos for an animal challenge, an appropriate culture for holiday challenges, or willing subjects for a nude challenge. As with any of these, you may accept the challenge or choose not to enter. At least Icelandic tundra isn't an advantage this time. ;-P

They had their chance with the nude challenge.

Oh and I left out the South Side Of Somalia Challenge. The audacity! I mean...what were they thinking?

Fortunately, the doctors were able to remove most of the nail from that head.

Anyone for a Northern lights competition?
10/20/2009 12:21:10 PM · #64
I'd like to point out that even here in Calgary we aren't going to get the nicest shots. The leaves didn't turn color. They just kinda went black/brown and died with the frost. And that's in the cases where the wind and ice didn't just shred them. Lovely.

Oh...and I am sorry to say I missed the Kenyan Lesbian Golden retriever challenge. I had the perfect shot too!

I think I have a great idea for a contest âA photo with a US presidentâ!! Or a âstate governorâ or a âcounty sheriffâ, I may also add an âArab oil sheikâ, just to make it global and easy to acquire.

Does this mean that you're willing to see that challenges cannot possibly be all things to all people?........8>)

I would like to say this will be my first Photo challenge. I like this just because I live in IL. and the leaves are very pretty at this time. I do hate to see when there are challenges that my area is not good for like anything to do with the mountains or the ocean but I guess we have to make do with what we have and Have fun with what we got. If there is something I can't shoot in my neck of the woods then I guess I will catch the next challenge.

Now, that's a healthy attitude :-) Perfectly matches mine, as well...

Why couldn't have just been "Autumn Colors" or similar, kind of keeping with the description? There are many things that represent the colors of Autumn that are not foliage but are living.

Because they wanted us to photograph autumn leaves for this challenge? It's quite specific, after all...

Umm......

Foliage · Advanced Editing
Celebrate fall and the colors that come with it.

Doesn't say leaves.....

That would indicte to me that you could probably put in a hayride w/pumpkins, cornshocks, a Thanksgiving feast.

Of course, the DNMC Police might slap you around, but.....
