Good job! Looks like you had fun.

Got my freestudy entry, and my "cold" entry in today. I have a "body" entry, but it makes me go "ewwwwwww" when I look at it, so I dunno.

These are the pictures you cannot order. There's no predicting them, there's nothing but the sheer beauty of their happenstance.

These are the pictures I go after at pretty much any gathering I attend, and the ones that really speak to me as to what a photographer is all about.

You may not necessarily get a lot of them, but three or four of these at a gathering are enough to make an impression for a lifetime.

Absolutely wonderful, Lea!

Way to go Lea! Congrats on a job well done!

In in for FS, body & cold.
01/31/2010 11:09:46 AM · #2156
I'm in for FS (or will be shortly) and do not expect a great score. But Mom likes it (and it's weird, and she's not always fond of weird) and my other tester likes it, and she doesn't normally like the sort of thing it is (though she DOES like weird.) Odd one this time... :-)

Nothing for body, hot or cold. But maybe I'll wander around with a camera later today.

Anybody about? Need an opinion on which of two to enter for the FS, but going to bed in half an hour!
01/31/2010 04:30:09 PM · #2158
I'll trade you opinions, if you're interested.
01/31/2010 04:34:49 PM · #2159
PM sent.

Hey all

new addition to the family...took the plunge and bought the D90 yesterday. It's the 4th biggest purchase I've ever made! Then Ryan made me read the manual (what a meanie, eh?), take pictures and of course figure things out when they got confusing. This continued well on into the night until my brain could take no more.

Then today we shot.

As my shot will be my FS entry I can't say where, but that D90 combined with Siggy results in a pretty damn lethal combination. Yes, about a dozen more buttons/dials to learn than on the D40 and another 5 billion sub-menus in the camera. But holy crap, the results...! Could do pretty well!

I'm in for FS. I haven't been able to shoot anything so I didn't have much to pick from. Looks like this will be the last one for awhile. Kelli did suggest I could take a pic of my toes while I'm in the recliner! LOL

FS 5.5 (thought it would be 6+)
Pieces 5.4 (expected brown ribbon)

Go figure. Lesson for Team Suck: don't ever ask my advice.

Okay - now I actually have a few moments to sit down and relax. I want to SHOUT out a huge amount of thanks to all of Team Suck.
Each and every one of you have been nothing less than supportive and helpful, and most of all, reassuring in the last couple of weeks (well, always, bur I've needed it most in the last couple of weeks).

I actually ended up enjoying myself at the wedding this weekend. Had some major nerves before getting their, but once I got started I felt much better.
Not wonderful - I've realized some areas that I need to really work on (how to pose people, for one). And that those who claimed the "kit" lens isn't enough was so NOT kidding !

The B&B was gorgeous, but for the lenses I had, not the best photographer's set-up. But not awful either. I think there was less than 50 guests, so not particularly crowded.

A few little things :
- Twin 1 year olds WILL find your equipment to play with, no matter WHERE you stash it.
- Stop taking bride/groom shots when the bride's EX-husband is in the background.
- Speak up, or you'll miss your shots, especially when the bride is not co-operative about having photos of just her (I have none, she refused !!!! The bride actually refused solo photos of her. I think she's going to regret that one.)
