Just a way to gather place for info and techniques like Cheap Enhancements for "Low End" Digital Cameras to help those that don't have all the manual settings, lense, modes, etc that some of the newer cameras and dSLR cameras have.
Seems to be a lot of threads about dSLR and their equipment and not too much info here about point & shooters, prosumers, etc. Greated more and more people have moved on to the dSLR. More owners of new dSLR camera are coming to the site.
Joining just means that if you find anything that can help someone to better their photography even when they don't have a high dollar camera to bring it up.

Do you mean stuff like holding a pringles can lid (or tupperware)over the built in flash to soften and/or reflect it a bit so it don't blow out the subject. Those babies are over powering aren't they? Is that the kind of stuff your are looking for? |

I don't think any camera with a manual focus or shutter settings should qualify for this category.
For example, my camera has the following "controls:
ISO (1/2/400/auto)
White Balance
Exposure Compensation
Spot Metering
Macro mode
3x zoom
All manipulation/control of shutter speed, aperture, DOF, focus, etc. have to be made "second-hand" using the above ... it can be tricky sometimes. |

Laurie, you have the distinct title of "Best in Class" as your image is the highest rated for that camera. Congrats! You've taken your poor little camera farther than anyone else before you :) |

Will wonders never cease...I've never thought to look up that statistic, that's for sure! I didn't even think anyone else around here even bothered to use the same camera. :o)

Well my camera will definatly not qualify.
Only 1 speed (100)
3 times zoom.
A bit of compensation, and that's about it.
I'm the only member who bothers to shot with it.
At least you can still buy a dsc p32.
They stopped making mine. Lol
Interested in signing up though |

i'm not dslr yet but my camera does have some manual settings so i doubt i'll be allowed to join your group. ;) even so, i used a 1.2mp Olympus D460Z for a good while here and didn't do too bad.
one thing i learned is that a cheap pair of sunglasses, or even just the lens from sunglasses, makes a great polarizer filter. it takes some practice holding it steady but it works well when you get the hang of it.
the main piece of advice i can give is...work within the limits of your camera. that may sound obvious, but i know that it's hard to do that while yearning to take the same shots as our dslr peers.
gimme a yell if i can help. :)

Yay! Count me in!
My camera has...
Auto, 100, 200, 400
Autofocus
3x Optical
White Balance
Exposure Compensation
Yay for non-DSLR's!
