Well haven't been around here much lately.
But I would like to change that so I would like to suggest the following side tournament(To get myself back to participating).
A limited number of teams of 2 would be chosen by the highest combined score in the starting tournament.
The teams selected would then compete every two weeks in the weekly member challenges.
Scoring would be as follows the competitor with the highest score of competitors in the F DPC challenge earns 10 points, 2nd highest earns 8 points, 3rd earns 6 points, 4th earns 5 points, 5th earns 4 points, 6th earns 3 points, 7th earns 2 points and 8th earns 1 point.
The member challenges in the odd weeks would be used as qualifiers where members of the teams could earn advantages on the other competitors in the challenge, this would of course only apply to the resolution of the side challenge the member challenge would be unaffected.
The advantage would be as follows 1st earns 1,0 on other competitors, 2nd 0,9, 3rd 0,8 etc. to an advantage of 0. bonuses would cancel each other out.
I would like to know if there is interest in such a side tournament and if so how many teams should be allowed and how many rounds should there be. Should the tournament be split into divisions?
Indridi
edit note these changes to the rules.
Someone suggested that the previous scoring round should determine the advantage for the next round I think this is better so that is how it will be. Firstly because it will shorten the competition. I also think it would not be fun to score well in the advantage round but not the scoring round.
I would also like to adjust the scoring.
20 points for 1st place,
16 for 2nd,
14 for 3rd,
12 for 4th,
10 for 5th,
8 for 6th,
6 for 7th,
4 for 8th,
2 for 9th
After 9th place anyone with a valid entry earns a point all else get zero.

I would be down for something like this. I have always wanted to try DPCO, but I shied because you have to enter challenges so frequently.

Ok, I have a confession to make. When they had that challenge "Your greatest phobia", I tried to think of a way to photograph "Photo Tournament Phobia". There is something about those tournaments, whether it be an MS tournament, the DPCo, that WW? tournament or whatever, that sends a chemical to my brain poisoning creativity and shutting down any hope of idea flow. It also has a side reaction that causes every photo I take to be blurry, grainy, blown out or way too dark. And another side effect is that somehow it seems transmitters are sent to the powers that be that cause the challenges to be wayyyyyyy wayyyyyyy WAYYYYYYY out of my interest level.
So, unfortunately, I'm out for tournament photography. But I'll pull for you guys :) |

How about the arrangements I'm thinking 2 leagues of 10 teams each and the competition would last for 10 rounds.

I might be interested but not during summer, so much going on that I wouldn´t want to commit to something like this unless it didn´t start right away. Think it´s a great idea, the DPCO seems to be dead. |

Definitely interested. I enjoy the team competitions. What is your plan for the initial seeding tournament? Would that be individual or with teams of two? Do we choose our own teammates? |

I really enjoy the side tournaments. I'm interested, I think... not sure about the scoring or setup. I'm not clicking with it all yet. I'll listen in a bit more until I get a clue. :) |

I wouldn't mind playing! Will force me to shoot more, but I didn't understand a word of your scoring logic. (I'll just try to take purdy pitchers...) |

Any space for more? Been a photo dry spell recently but after I move house (13 days and counting) I am going to need some inspiration to get back off the wagon... could this be it? |

The idea is that teams of two would register and when the competition would start which has not been decided the competitors would enter a photo in the weekly challenge. I think if there will be enough teams there will be two divisions of say 10 teams. The teams with the highest combined score would qualify for the competition. If there ar less then 20 teams obviously there will only be one division.
when teams have been chosen the competition can start
Say the following teams have entered and scoring would be as shown
Name ---- Pl 1 - Pl 2 - Score
Team 1 -- 7,04 - 6,70 - 13,75
Team 2 -- 6,53 - 7,09 - 13,62
Team 3 -- 6,51 - 7,05 - 13,55
Team 4 -- 5,97 - 6,79 - 12,76
Team 5 -- 6,76 - 5,76 - 12,52
Team 6 -- 6,04 - 6,11 - 12,16
Team 7 -- 6,53 - 4,96 - 11,50
Team 8 -- 4,39 - 7,06 - 11,45
Team 9 -- 4,40 - 7,04 - 11,43
Team 10 - 5,11 - 6,25 - 11,36
Team 11 - 6,42 - 4,94 - 11,36
Team 12 - 5,64 - 5,71 - 11,35
Team 13 - 5,78 - 5,51 - 11,29
Team 14 - 4,30 - 6,92 - 11,21
Team 15 - 5,25 - 5,94 - 11,19
Team 16 - 4,92 - 6,08 - 11,00
Team 17 - 5,65 - 5,32 - 10,97
Team 18 - 6,54 - 4,28 - 10,82
Team 19 - 5,20 - 5,51 - 10,71
Team 20 - 5,43 - 5,24 - 10,68
Team 21 - 5,47 - 5,16 - 10,62
Team 22 - 4,27 - 5,41 - 9,68
Team 23 - 4,16 - 5,25 - 9,41
Team 24 - 4,86 - 4,45 - 9,31
Team 25 - 4,53 - 4,55 - 9,08
Team 26 - 4,67 - 4,32 - 8,99
Now teams 1-10 have qualified for the top division
Teams 11-20 have qualified for the second division
The other teams would not qualify
Now the competition starts and the following weeks qualifying round the score is as follows
Top Division ------- Score - Advantage
Player 2(Team 10) - 7,09 -- 1
Player 1(Team 2) -- 7,09 -- 0,9
Player 2(Team 1) -- 6,94 -- 0,8

That is the first official round
Top Division ------- Score - Result - Points

Hope this clears things up a bit. Maybe a limit of teams is not necessary and whatever number of teams that enter should just be split into divisions.

I think I get scoring...
1. Two qualifying rounds, week 1 to get in to the tournament, week 2 to establish the first set of advantage points.
2. Week 3 is the first official week, with the prior weeks advantage points added to the photographs score after rollover to give the tournament result. The top 10 tournament results are given points 10 for 1st, 9 for 2nd, etc.
Questions:
1. Will the final rollover score for a given week establish the advantage points for the following week?
2. How many weeks are you considering? |
