Why does it seem I always enter the wrong ones? It wouldn't be hard for this one to have scored better than my real entry. Any comments? I had to compress it a lot so the apparent quality isn't the best.

Yes, much more abstract IMHO. Nice colors and tones. I probably would have given it 6 or better. I think the water droplets are slightly distracting here, some blur might have nailed this for me. (Though my motion blurred abstract didn't do too well, this group must be ingrained on all photos being sharp, so I may be wrong!)

The difference is like .... uhh ... night & day. You entered the wrong one. Please tell more about night and day, I really like the colors and the crispness but can't figure out what it is.

It's a bottle with condensed white vinegar in it. The lines are from the bottle. The colors are from a salt box/blue, a box of cornstarch/yellow and a card stock/peach placed behind the bottle. Natural diffused light from a window on the right and a small flashlight set up behind the bottle and pointed to reflect off the cornstarch and card stock. Camera on tripod, settings f13 at 1/2s with a 50mm macro.
Thanks.

I like this one quite a bit. The colors and droplets are great. I hate to say it but you should have entered this one!

I know how you feel, though, because abstract with the DPC crowd is a tough call. I've entered abstractions I thought would bomb and they scored well. But I've also entered some that I thought were pretty good, and they scored much worse than expected. This has always been a puzzle to me because I like abstracts. Oh well!

You really do have to work at pleasing yourself first on this site; then let the scores fall where they may.
