Yikes!! You took pictures of the back of my head?? (Gotta admit that's my good side, though.) Hugs back at you, Greetmir, and one for Fiona, too! (I still need to send you pictures - I'll get to it, I promise. Want jpegs?)

Nice article Deb! And I get props...how cool is that!

In honor of all you do for pigeons throughout the world, the pigeons in Connecticut decided to fly in military formation....

There's a shortage of pigeons hereabouts, but I did enter a "pigeon of the sea" in a FS in her honor:

The only pigeon in my portfolio! LOL! We don't have them around here either, I have to go to Philly for pigeons!

Why would anyone "go" anywhere "for" pigeons? Unless you need an excuse to visit Venice or London...

Hmmm...I've been to Pigeon, Michigan. Didn't see any pigeons though!

Pigeon pics from my old film days. Both of my daughters loved feeding the pigeons.

Great interview! No recent pigeons, but here's a nice Avocet:

oh wow, just fond this thread and was delighted and honored to read Deb's kind words about myself. I am thinking about framing and hanging them for future generations :). Not sure it is deserved but it truly is an honor. Thank you Deb so much!

... I did read other parts of the interview as well :). Very nice read indeed. I must say that Deb is one of my inspirations here as well. She and her pigeons. In fact, this photo was named "For Deb" before I came across this thread, I swear.

...and we have other things in common. For one, she is a world traveler like myself (actually, paraphrasing "Sheltering Sky", one of my favorite movies, she is a traveler, I am just a tourist) ...and, most importantly, I too hang toilet paper so it rolls away from the wall on top.

You may THINK that, but in reality it's the pigeons flocking to wherever you're at, to pay homage to a kindred spirit doomed to a life without muttering wings.

Sweet sentiment, Bear! When I used to ride my bike in the middle of nowhere Texas, I would always notice vultures gathering... I definitely prefer pigeons. :-)

Remember this part of the interview?

If you were able to recruit any photographer (or non-photographer for that matter) to join DPC, from anywhere, anytime, who would you recruit and why?
Interesting question. I'm actually trying to recruit a guy I know from a LONG time ago - from a "bulletin board" (an archaic "chat" network, with DOS prompts, green letters on a black screen, and new-fangled 1200 baud modems!) who I linked up with recently through Facebook. Turns out he lives in Frankfurt now - I knew him when I lived in Omaha. I randomly pass along the site address to photographers I meet when I'm out and about, though I'm not entirely sure if any of them joined or not. As for "famous" photogs, I'm not an art or photography student, and while I do recognize the works of some, I have not studied them. I suppose the one that I would invite would be Henri Cartier-Bresson because he's a street guy. I like street guys. Come to think of it, I'd like to re-recruit boysetsfire and sevilduvarci.

Turns out I pestered the guy in Frankfurt enough that he did join DPC, and he entered the Free Study, and he did VERY well! Poor guy. Now he has to live up to that....

Username is chutaiko

Now I need to pester him to add stuff to his portfolio, and join a side challenge or two!
