Really nice result. Here's a fine-tune:

Select sky and use hue/sat to make the blue less greenish/cyanish, then some gradients from all 4 edges to contain, and a light dose of high-pass sharpening.

Topaz Adjust also helped out this image from the zoo. The dragon was behind thick glass and everything came out muted, and a a little blurred from the dirt film on the glass.

Topaz / Original (as if it wasn't obvious)

Same crop, only difference is Topaz

I'm really enjoying how easy it is to get results I like, and that I can play with so many aspects of the image from one spot.

Yeah, that's the beauty of it, that so many parameters can be adjusted from one panel, complete with previews. And the presets, of course, that allow you to choose broad starting points then fine-tune until it looks right to you.

I have not had this much fun with a side challenge since, well, forever. Any chance we can continue it for another month?

I got to meet a DPC'er today - this is tamatama, and if you check her portfolio, you'll find a Topaz'd folder. She started last month but then got caught up with annoying real life stuff and didn't get a chance to play this month. So if you have a moment, check out her Topaz'd stuff. Thought it only appropriate I Topaz her, too! :-)

WOW. The images on this threat are amazing.
Have been playing with Topaz a bit since seeing this thread.
Will post some shots after resizing if that's OK.

Which Topaz program has everyone tended to use the most?
Topaz Adjust?

Barbara - I agree. this is enormous fun and not only am I learning from my own experiments but from everyone else's learning experiences as well. I took a break from the thread for a few days, but have not stopped being intrigued by the subject.

So, that's two ready for another month of Topaz. Anybody else???

:-))

This is one of the old images that had been lost since my hard drive crash in 2004. I managed to turn it into something I am happy with by the use of Topaz.

I've been watching this side challenge all month long, and have been inspired by some of the great results. I went on vacation a couple weeks ago and couldn't wait to get home and try Topaz on them. I've decided not to enter this as my Freestudy this month (mainly because a similar photo in Grunge didn't do so hot), but I wanted to post it somewhere. I hope you guys don't mind me tossing this in the mix.

Placing #22 and a score of 5.83 is doing fairly well in my book. I gave your grunge entry a 6.

I Topaz'ed a Corvette engine compartment that I photographed at old town Kissimme, FL.

Put that in a Freestudy, and I'd be lucky to pull a 5.3. Our grungy tastes don't do well against beautiful people and beautiful seaside sunsets generally, heh.

This is a cool challenge. Rather late entering these but I have made comments on others.
Would love to know which programs most people favour. I have mostly used just Topaz Adjust and thinking of purchasing it. What are everyone's thoughts on the others? Thanks

Edited to put originals inside edits.

I'm game - it's going to take me that long to catch up on commenting anyway. It's so cool to see that everyone is having fun with this! I am having fun too :)

I might be able to post a few more... here's an attempt at a Clean2 edit:

After I made a challenge suggestion 'construction' I decided to see if it was doable. Couldn't find any construction anywhere and then I stumbled upon this gem of an area. Would this have been challenge worthy?

In June - do you guys want to just continue in this thread or start a new one? I can change the first message of the thread to show whatever is decided for round 2 :)
05/31/2009 12:07:03 PM · #496
Let's just continue in this thread. It's been fun to watch peoples' evolution with the tool - lots of overkill to start, but some subtle and very effective work as we went on. Still fun to go with the overkill on occasion. (And if we continue, that gives me the incentive to go find those other presets Kelli told me about that I forgot to go find... And try "Clean" which I haven't done yet, either.) Bring it on!

Here's my last of May; I managed 15 images posted I think, average of one every other day, which ain't too bad. I'll keep poking away if we continue, I've no doubt.

Yes, Adjust. I've tried Clean 2, and bought it, but find it much less useful than Adjust.

Since this thread specifically says it is for May 2009, why not start a new one for Topaz that is a permanent ongoing thread, like they did for Overlays and Textures.
