Sheesh. Somebody has their underwear in a wad. I am convinced there are people who just delight in doing this. I guess my entry has no redeeming value, since someone just slammed it with an early 1.
There are some people at DPC who are not playing by the rules! Allegedly, if a score is logged below 4.0, an explanation is supposed to be given as well...
Nobody can charge me with DNMC this time because I read the description forwards and backwards, and I posted a picture of something that "didn't quite work-out as planned." It was certainly not something that I would have done intentionally, just to post it in this Challenge.
I was actually trying to capture something for the Candid Challenge, and I screwed-up as I often do, but I keep right on trying to improve!
Maybe one day I will actually be a photographer! :)
I KNOW that many disagree with my beliefs, and consistently I am not considered that great photographically, but I would at least like to believe that somebody can give me "SNAPS" for determination! :)

Yo_Spiff, I am hoping that since this is the month of April and the April Fool's Joke riled-up a bunch of people (Yet, I can't remember which website got the most ire,...DPC or some other site [I'm on a lot of them now,])...that the initial scores are merely a rendering of the title in order to improve the hilarity! :}
Yeh, I don't really know what's going on with my score - I was pretty convinced it'd be on my profile page but it's languishing in the 4.7 region... Obtuse challenges generally have low scores though.

This is my second challenge, but I've commented and voted in a bunch of them since I joined - there is something broken with the voting system - either members don't understand it or they are being intentionally negative for whatever reason. I don't want to seem like I'm complaining - I'm not at all. It's just an observation - I like the image and I honestly don't give a fig if anybody else does or not. :>)
Five comments all asking if it's a film image instead of a digital image. That would seem to me that it's a pretty good image tecnically which should mean that it should rate higher than 3.8 (rounded up). That's a significant statiscal sample based on the number of votes.
I'm also curious about the 65 views and 30 votes. That doesn't make any sense - if you are going to look at it, then vote on it. How hard it that?
Unusual place this DPC. :>)
Onwards and upwards. I can't wait for the voting on the Free Study - based on this image, that one should rate...oh about 2 or so. :>)
Later,
Tom

Going up - well, that's interesting.
You know - this checking on the rating could get to be addictive. :>)

I can't speak for everyone else, but a lot of times I like to look through all of the pictures once or twice before I start voting. Then, even after I start, I might skip voting and come back to a photo a few times to make sure I rate it consistently, and possibly try to think of a meaningful and helpful comment (especially if it was a low vote, although low for me is generally at least a 4). I
n my experience, my photos end up with 100 to 200 more views than votes.

I'm the same, I tend to look through before voting.
In addition I may go back to certain images several times, simply because I like looking at them and as such a high view count could be taken as a compliment eh

Good point. My higher rated photos tend to get more views during voting than the those that are rated lower. Anecdotal evidence, for sure, but it just seems to work out that way.
