Since it's apparently not just me that fancies this - how about a Birds in Flight challenge ?

Whether it's Pigeons, Ducks, Raptors, Garden Birds - everyone has access to flying birds somewhere.

Capture something of their grace and beauty.

I'll second it.

Lot's of Egrets and Herons around here. I've gotten some good shots of them coming in near dams. Sounds like a good idea, with a limiting twist. I do tend to prefer the action of the in flight shots rather than just seeing them standing still.

I'm a big supporter of this.

How about just "in flight"? you would get a lot of bird shoots in it but wouldn't be limited to just birds. I like a more diverse challenge than going through 100-200 pictures of all birds. I probably wouldn't even vote on that one to be honest.

Sounds good to me being this is one of my better subjects to photograph.

Birds in flight would be a good challenge IMHO :) If not enough people would be interested in this as a regular challenge. How about a side challenge? A month of birds in flight?

I not sure of month worth of birds side challenge but i would be up for a regular challenge.

So maybe a weeks worth of BIF would suffice. :) hehe

Shameless bump - there are some great BIF shot's already out there. Birds soaring , swooping, taking off, landing, squabbling etc etc.

Good panning practice as well :- )

Feel free to post your shot's on this thread.

It seems like there was to be a starting date or some confirmation that this would be a thread. I haven't posted anything so maybe April 1st would be a good kickoff day!

I'm so sorry to rain on your parade, but birds in flight is too easy! You guys should really challenge yourself--how many people can get a shot of a bird levitating? :)

Nice photos posted in this thread! Wow!
I continue to try to capture good photos of birds in flight. I have much to learn about it. Here's one I took a few weeks ago. Not the best quality.

What do you guys think of this? The sky was kind of cruddy so i just boosted the contrast/brightness up to get rid of it....
