Of course I've been playing with cheap 35mm cameras lately, but I also found time to take out the Quaker Oats pinhole camera again last week. I'm fairly pleased with this. |

Here's a great link that one of my pals sent to me. It's B&W photos from the Civil War.
mikelynaught.com/civil war
These are photos from the Library of Congress. Some have bodies and battle scenes in them in case anyone might be upset by seeing that. The collection is a good example of the old saying "A picture says more than a thousand words."

I was the only one I could find that would pose for a test shot with a new old camera..

Note to Brian - the camera does indeed work, more or less! Got film back today. Made me laugh. I did ask for digital, so I'll go see what I ended up with. But I have prints. Have to say it was kind of exciting to go in, ask for my pictures, then take out actual prints and look through them! Nothing earthshattering and I do believe there is a bit of a light leak, but all in all, a fun activity. More later, hopefully - have a few chores to do first. |

Can't wait to see them. Thanks for the update!
Another one from the Photoflex MX-35.

Almost everything in this thread is my recent film work. There's loads more that I either haven't scanned in...
I LOVE film. I dropped my photography major so I wouldn't have to take the digital classes. Digital no longer interests me...also why I haven't been taking pictures for here recently.
ETA: I am most proud of this image:
Taken with a Holga. Developed and printed it myself - that's what that line is, one of my hairs got in the film when I rolled it into the canister.

So is EVERYTHING in this thread. Film is so satisfying to shoot and print.
These days we are doing liquid emulsions - I plan on making a print on a shoe. I have already successfully printed on cardboard and watercolor paper. |

Be sure to post some examples of your liquid emulsion... ! |

I found a mystery roll of film, and had it developed and put on disc. It was shot summer 07 about 70 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico, west of Key West Fl.

oh I will. I might even make a new thread for my liquid emulsion - they are turning out SO wonderfully! The goal is to make four large (16x20-ish) self-portraits on four different surfaces (2 kinds of watercolor paper (smooth and rough), cardboard, and cloth or plexiglass - leaning towards plexiglass) and draw/paint on each one with a different medium (ink, watercolor, conte crayon and charcoal, and thread/acrylics). It is a LARGE PLAN and rather daunting. It is also due on Tuesday. heh.
I'm putting into practice everything non-technical I have ever learned about photography - holgas, orthographic prints, liquid light emulsions. |

Has anyone ever tried Mordençage? I severely want to...maybe next semester I'll have the time to.
My liquid light emulsions are turning out BEAUTIFULLY. I just need to get plexiglass and prepare it for the emulsion...it needs varnish before the emulsion will stick. BUT! My photo professor really really loves what I'm doing right now! So that's super exciting.
Also, for the holga aficionados, someone took their holga underwater and the results are ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. |

Awesome thread. Really cool photos. Mine are all about 3 years old taken with an slr. Developed them and printed them at the photo lab at my school and then scanned them into the computer.
