That's very, very cool. Esp. since I just finished watching the entire series Life in the Undergrowth. If you have Netflix, I highly, highly recommend it!

If I actually do it, I'll send you a thumbnail so you'll be inoculated and also so you'll know it, and can immediately turn away if you hit it in voting.

Somebody more computery correct me if I'm wrong, but - I think it's just the code your computer uses to correctly open a jpg file? The information is all compressed, so it needs a script in order to open it properly as a picture?

Unless you say to pen a jpeg file correctly, I'll report you to the University of Edinburgh without further ado.

Rod, just got back (last night) from Phoenix. If you are in the general area and want a list of MAGNIFICENT restaurants, let me know. I got the luck of the draw and hit the over 100 degree two-week stretch. The temps just broke the day I was leaving to head back east, of course. My kinda luck.

Wow, wish I had known you were in Phoenix, we could have met for a meal or drink or something.

When I came home from work yesterday I found a smallish package in the mail box. Turns out it is the most amazing chocolate I have ever tasted from out own Melethia. I have now hidden it as I have no plans to share.

Deb, thank you so very much! I owe you a big one.

Well, I got roped into a charity event today. It's not till August, but I'm a little nervous about this one. It's a "day of beauty" for people with cancer. I'm supposed to do before and after shots, and candids throughout a 6 hour day. I'm just not sure people would want to see themselves "before". Any suggestions? It's all still in the planning stages, and the photos will be available for free download on the web to print if they'd like (no prints). Any first hand knowledge of how people who are going through chemo and such would feel about having photos done? In my thinking, it would be nicer to only offer the after pictures. I just don't know. The only people I had personal knowledge of cancer with was my grandfather. He didn't lose his hair and actually died before his treatment completed.

you have been offered an excellent oppertunity. these types of things are what i get really worked up about, but then after you d it you feel like you have contributed so much. i did photos for a friend of mine(he was actually my fifth grade teacher) who is going through chemo. he looks terrible, but we did photos and we're going to do more in a year or so when hes recovered(his treatment is over in july). any good candids you can take, no matter what the person looks like, they and their families will love, im sure of it. jsut dont get too worried about it:)

Katherine, sometimes I forget you're so young. Of course you're right. I'm just nervous about it (and I have a nice long time to worry, LOL!). I think what I'm most nervous about is although this one is for adults, they are also planning one for kids, though no date has been set for that one. That one will be a bit rougher.

Kelli, You know my mom is going through it right now and I can't really say if she would like to see a before pic or not. I'm gonna ask her what she would think about something like this. She might be ok with it but I know she doesn't want anyone to see her without her wig. I know some people don't feel this way though. I'll let you know what she has to say about it.

I would suggest you try to capture their personalities as best you can in the before pictures. If they have no hair, ask if they want the before picture taken with or without a wig or hat - leave it up to them. For candids, just shoot candids! Worry not about anything other than capturing the moments when you can. They're just people. :-) Some may be camera-shy, some may be camera hogs and mug for you. Just like everybody else. When you process, don't go heavy on the detailed Topaz options. :-) You want the "before" shots to show plain Jane, not hideous, if that makes sense. You want the "after" to glow, be as radiant and warm as possible, but not overly so.

I think it's an excellent opportunity and I think you'll really have a great time, too!
