You have rated 277 of 278 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 277 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.2744.

I may go back and bump some up, but I have completed a first pass.
If I see another close up of a grey cat's face, I may scream. Its unfortuate, because some of them are pretty good, but there are just so many that are almost identical.

I went back and did most of my bumping up just now, hope that brightens someone's day. Again, I only voted the 29% that I felt met the portrait challenge, both environmental and classic, creative and more standard.

I am beginning to suspect it may be one of those entries with a big difference in score between commenters (who like it) and the rest of the world (not so impressed). A big "thank you" to the commenters!

Can't seem to get out of the high 4's and low 5's lately. Got a fave which is nice. Remaining optimistic - it is still early.

You have given an average score of 6.2816.

Well, I am back to commenting and as usual it is slow going for I leave dissertations:-) I do hope they help.

My score - well I still am disappointed because of the level of work I did and no further comments. I do have two but I highly suspect that it only reflects 30% of the problem with the photo....the other percentage welll, I'm not going to go into.

Anyways, will be back later for more comments and perhaps something more;-)

To CNovack,

You left a dissertation on my photo that i read this morning, and i just wanted to say thank you. That is the type of helpful commenting that a rookie such as my self needs. You pointed out the good qualities of the photo. You pointed out the flaws. Then, you went above and beyond by suggesting solutions to the flaws and extra techniques to try out. That is awesome. I really appreciate it. Thank you!!!!

My fav comment thus far on my image was from a baghead and it said that the title hurts my photo

Love how people vote on titles and not on the image integraty itself.

Ugh ... I had that person in the Grey challenge, and my "vent post" regarding it in the Grey thread was deleted by mods. Hard to imagine people voting a photography challenge (up or down) based on the f'ing title.

As for this one, I've had nothing but wonderful comments and I greatly appreciate each one.

C'mon guy's - I ignored it earlier - but why would a good or bad title not make a difference to a viewers experience of a picture ?

A title should be a vehicle for helping the viewer understand what the photographer was trying to capture or create, it can be factual, evocative, emotional, humerous, observational. . . so many things, but if a title is used it becomes part of the intrinsic viewing experience of that picture.

I'm guessing you have picked up books or DVD's before and been encouraged or put off by the title ?

Im not saying that it could put off people, I have a very avg title that neither helps nor hurts the shot in my own opinion, however I think its interesting that it was the only thing that the person could up with to leave a comment on the image for. I just saying literally its all the comment says. Not the shot is great, or the shot is horrible... Just the title is no good.

Personally I wish there was a way to leave the title blank.

I personally would rather leave it blank and let the person who is watching the photo come up with their own view on what the photo means.

On mine (again, Grey challenge), it literally stated "the title hurts this one" ... as if to say the image scored lower because of the title. I totally agree the title is contextual, and can even alter the viewers mood depending. But to vote a photograph higher or lower in a *photography* challenge because of the title, whether it's just a sh!tty title or even because it evokes unwanted emotion, is silly.

I think the title is a part of the competition, just like the mat and frame are part of an art show. However, if you have a lousy mat and frame choice, it can hurt a picture--bring out the wrong colors, etc. I can't see a title making a photograph less than it is, however. I would never rate a photo down because of its title. However, I have certainly raised a vote because of a title--one that made me notice something in the photo that I hadn't seen before, something clever that made me appreciate the photo more... etc.
