It's a challenge about the COLOR GREY. It's not Black & White XVIII. It's not Shades of Grey. It's GREY.

I'm not voting in this challenge but my first pass through surprised me. I guess I read the description wrong as I thought it meant not to use b/w and by refernece even grayscale. I had a shot that was in color but very gray because of the light and weather but I removed it before the challenge started. It would have been much better as a true grayscale but I thought I would get beat up with DNMC. Who would have guessed the opposite may be true.

The people quaking in their boots are the ones whose images contain the colors black and white.

So, if there is no other color but grey you will give it a DNMC vote. And you want me to follow your lead. Nice try. :)

Where does it say the image can't contain those colors? I guess I interpreted it different.

In the challenge details it says avoid EXTREME shades of gray such as black and white. Because those shades are EXTREME. Dude.

I'm just messing around though, I couldn't care less.

Went DOWN from 3.3333

If this score IMPROVES by 50%, it will still be my personal worst!! LOL

You may now begin addressing me as Gandalf, Gandalf the Grey.

Not so quick there. The way mine is dropping, I might give you a run for your money.

No, as long as grey is in it as the main subject or feel of the photo, and it's a photo I like, it's a good vote. The thought of someone voting a color shot of grey down is scary though.

Can I call you dudette then even tho I know you are not? lol Actually I thought since the first sentence said capture gray, that it meant the subject you captured better not contain the extremes. Of course I am giving you my opinion even tho you don't care so I am wasting some white space oh well :P

Don't get too excited, I'm only marginally "behind" and I'm putting up a fight for that title!

Yah. Trying to imagine that the description means you can't have black or white in any part of your photo is a bit of a stretch. heh.

But, this IS DPC.

Anyway. Feh. I went through stages 1 - 4 within the matter of the hour.

I am on stage 5 now.

My first entry under a 5! I shall hold a place for it in my heart always.

Color grey is obviously DNMC. It's either grey or its color and color grey is obviously not what is being asked for here. Cutting to brass tacks, it's 1 votes for any color grey shots I see. If you had to resort to color grey because you couldn't capture grey then just get back on the short bus and stop wasting everyone's time.

edit: Just wanted to add, whichever asshat submitted the colOUR grey shot - you know really it's not funny, just completely infantile.

Really hope that a photo of a grey/gray subject has a precedent over Gray scale or desat. as gray is a color the same as RED Green Blue,

I don't care if you shot a gray subject or did a b/w conversion. If the subject of the photo is gray, I'm happy! :-)

Challenge Description: Capture the color grey somehow.

The color grey is obviously what is being asked for, here. It is vague on taking any color shot and converting to grayscale, since it opens the door with "somehow". But shooting some subject that is grey to the naked eye is implied.

Correct. I think I'm gonna vote all images converted to black and white a 1 for DNMC because they don't contain the color grey, but only shades of black and white.
