With all the different camera types available today it can be confusing as to which one to choose.

I'm trying to get one at Last Chance camera Sale, i want it to take gardening and horse pictures, so I need to be able to take good close-up, landscape, and action pictures. I want the capacity to take rapid advance shots. I've been told that for the action shots I'll want a SLR camera. Suggestions that won't break the bank?

I find Ritz to be good choice to deal with as long as you don't want to pay through the nose for the cutting edge equipment. They are quite competitive with the equipment that's been out for a while.

I have bought most of my equipment from them because they have two stores here locally.

I'm one of those people who has to handle and play with a camera to see if it feels right and that I like the way it looks and operates.

You cannot do that on line.

I would suggest either one of the last generation of Nikon or Canon for reliability, efficiency, and affordability.

You'll get all you'll need for quite some time without breaking the bank.

Here's the Nikon D80 W/18-135

Here's the Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR Camera 2-Lens Outfit w/ EF-S 18-55mm IS & 75-300mm Lenses

They're both terrific cameras for the starter setups, and if you're like me, you may never go further than one or two lenses and be happy as a clam.

They'll be enough camera to do anything you want short of serious sports photography, and should you decide to go down that path, it's a matter of expensive glass from that point.

Hope this helps.....

Both Canon and Nikon DSLRs will take great photos and both have a very wide range of accessories including lenses so you could not go wrong with either manufacturer. I would check your budget and then go to a local dealer and try holding some of them in your hands (you don't have to but may consider buying from them- they may be able to match the price at Ritz and you will be able to go see them if you need service). They have different sizes and shapes and not all will feel comfortable to you. If it does not feel good in your hands you will be less likely to use it. I bought my Nikon D80 kit (with 18- 135mm lens) from Ritz so they are OK for buying from (there are online companies you want to stay away from). BH Photo is another very high quality camera dealer- I have purchased most of my other things from them. You sound a bit unfamiliar with DSLR cameras so you may want to look at the more "entry" models- in the Nikon line that would be the D40- not sure what the Canon one will be. If you think you will grow with photography you might want a bit higher camera in the line because they will have more things you can adjust manually as you learn what to use and when. Good luck!
