Brilliant concept Richard! One of the best I've seen in a while.

So, there *are* photographers besides Ansel Adams??

Michael Kenna? That would be interesting

I'm really bad with knowing anything about great photographers other than Ansel Adams. He has become such a household word that it seems many of us ignore all others. Thanks for posting this list. I plan to use it for some research and photo ideas.

Excellent idea. I would like to add...

Challenge: Elliott Erwitt

Another personal favorite of mine that would prove a challenge to emulate.

Wynn Bullock particularly for his Navigation without Numbers.

Challenge: Charles Wyckoff

Or

Challenge: Ruth Bernhard

***This would satisfy all the people who are desperately wanting to do another nude challenge.***

I was thinking the same about the Ansel Adams bias recently as well. It's a great idea and some good choices made so far. I'd love to see what people came up with in the style of two of my favourite, but very controversial, photographers...

Challenge: Jan Saudek
Description: Take a photograph in the style of this photographer who is famous for his strongly coloured, dream-like studio shots.
Rules: Advanced Editing

Challenge: Joel Peter-Witkin
Description: Take a photograph in the style of this highly controversial photographer who is known for his themes of death, corpses, outsiders and the physically deformed.
Rules: Advanced Editing

I can't see Joel Peter-Witkin going down well with a lot of people here though!

This one would be great, although many of the images would violate the rules:

"submit a photograph depicting male or female genitalia, or acts of sex deemed inappropriate by a majority of the Site Council"

Ah, yeah. It was more of a joke. Though I know more than one person who would model. Sick perverts I hang out with.
