2 to 1 my left brain dominates over my right which is great for my career (Financial Controller) but really SUCKS when it comes to photography and anything else creative. Top that off with a perfectionistic personality order (not really a disorder just a frustrating trait)and I am perpetually pissed at myself for not improving faster. Is there anyone else who has struggled with this and eventually done well?

my husband -- very right brained on the surface, BUT, the left keeps overtaking him. He can nail the technicals of photography, but is completely and totally frustrated at his "lack of creativity"
I'm too right brained to notice. . . |

I'm left handed so I have an advantage. We are always in our right mind. ;oP
I'm pretty ambidextrous for a lot of things though.
I do other creative things other than photography. I have a goal to turn some of my landscape photographs into tapestries.
Having said that, I'm also a perfectionist none of my creative projects ever get finished. |

I get left/right confused, but I'm very technically oriented. I like to know how things work and keep everything in its place.
When it comes to photography, I love pouring over gear specs, considering ISO/S/A tradeoffs, controlling my sharpness and DoF, reproducing beautiful accurate colors, but I'm rarely able to communicate an interesting story or imbue my shots with real meaning.
I'm hoping to change that, but I still really enjoy it none the less. =) |

I struggle with no brain at all.
Actually, it's kind of blissful.

If that side has to do with Logic and Detail, then you have a chance.
The word you wanted was dominates not dominant.

There lies your answer, drink less caffiene and you'll be more Right brained.
Seriously, we all can work more with either brain. Sometimes some training exercises can help. I have no idea what kind, search the internet.
Soemetimes you have to think free like through the eyes of a child.
ADDED:
I̢۪m the perfectionist who found your misspelling, so you have a chance.
As a Programmer/Analyst and also a computer geek I may have those symptoms, too. I always did excel in Art and Achitecture, but now the only graphics I can do at work is design icons and forms, which I do very well.

Thought this was interesting test to see if you use your right brain or left brain.

Is that an April Fools Day test? Every time I glance at it she seems to change directions. First I saw counter-clockwise, than clockwise, back and forth. Mostly counter, I guess. |

It is? Every time I look at it is going clockwise. |

If that's the rotating dancer, you can actually get it to switch the way it rotates at will. Just takes a little concentration and knowing where to look. |

Here's my recommendation for your rehabilitation "D cultivate a friendship w/someone who is much more spontaneous than you & make a promise to yourself to do a few things with that friend on his/her terms. Just say yes. Just do it. At some point you'll discover you had a lot of fun without doing anything perfectly. |

I cannot get her to go counter-clockwise. Even if I run up to her and try to shove her the other direction she carries on going clockwise. |

The key is to look where her foot touches the reflection, and concentrate there. It's like one of those "magic pictures", if you de-focus just right, you can train yourself to get her to switch the direction of rotation pretty much at will. This might be more difficult (if not impossible) for someone with vision problems. |

Watch the reflected foot. It constantly looks like it's trying to change direction then eventually does. I've managed to switch the direction a few times. |
