Where is it you want to go? Is the admission fee paid in DPC ribbons? I think you have just reached stage 2 of assimilation "lashing out in rejection fueled frustration". Stick it out, see where it takes you.

I want to go somewhere where I can sell my work and supplement my retirement. I want to do this on a mass scale ("mass" meaning not in a gallery selling individual shots three times a year). With that regard I need to appeal to people in a broad context and not a narrow one.

I'm not frustrated by 1x. I just realize it's not my genre. I think I have a base set of skills enough that if I gave myself six months to change, I could be regularly accepted (well, as much as anybody else) over there. I just don't want to change. I like color. Bright explosive color. I like happy and celebratory. Apparently I like "American" and not "European".

But, hey, you seem to have a handle on me better than me, so what do I know? ;)

Nah, you lost me at "I'm in it for the money". I was just trying to talk you out of bailing due to rejection, but if that's not the case best of luck!

On an unrelated note, who are you over there, violinist? I'm too lazy to look.

ESPhotography?!? Wasn't Rose "espy" for a while? Do you live in Florida violinist123? :)

I'm in the club! 1 uploaded...1 rejected...

It might have done better as b/w, but the blue skies remind me that there is hope.

"Nothing but blue skies from now on..."

Reason:
"It is not a bad photo, but it's not a material for Onexposure. Take a careful look at the accepted photos to see what kind of photos are expected. Some examples of motifs rarely published are sunsets, flowers, seagulls, sculptures, pets, smiling kids, zoo-pictures, wedding photos, product shots and overly commercial motifs. Photos with text added in post-processing are rarely accepted. Improper, offensive and repulsive photos also fall into this category."

Because of this thread, I took a shot, and, to my surprise, got one rejected and one published.

I have to say I always enjoy your thoughts in these threads. But, I am a little surprised that you closed your account. IMHO, the site is worth to stay in touch with to have another way for your work to be seen. An artist cannot be seen in too many galleries...right?! Just my two cents, and as usual the only gallery I belong in is...

The Peanut Gallery!

Ya, that might have been in a childish moment. I may reopen it. I can still visit the galleries though.

BTW: I should make it clear I'm not cancelling just because of this rejection. I sorta suspected it would go down like this, but I was curious what would happen. I also don't have anything against 1x. I just think they are not a means to get where I want to go personally. Doc...I think that you should stick around. Think of it as a challenge of sorts. I was very frustrated the first several months over there....but I took it on as a challenge, to see if I could learn to see things a bit differently. Each time I am rejected I look closely as why....sometimes it is because it just doesn't fit with there style, other times because the photo really did not have any impact, etc. I have enjoyed myself on 1x, once I starting looking at the website as a challenge, rather than a rejection. I love your style and I do think it can fit in over there. I'd like to see you hang around a bit longer.

Well, I'm sure your fans will appreciate and respect your portfolio here and at 1x. Also, if you re-open your account, I would bet you will bring a smile to Ursula...for that alone, I believe it will be worth it...am I right?!

Heh. I'm moderately sure Ursula thinks I'm an idiot at the moment.

OK, I opened it just for you hiho cuz I think you are swell.

::Beams::...Well, my psychic ability tells me that Ursula will always think well of you and will give you more credit than you are thinking. On this one, you have become my Hero, Jason, because it take strength to publicly admit that even those who walk on Blue Ribbon water...sometimes get wet.

Edited: because I made Ursula a "thumb" and not a "user"...haha!
