Remember before the Iraq invasion when Bush was saying that the Iraqis would come out with open arms and welcome them as their liberators?
Is this what he meant?
I just laugh when I view it.
I put it in rant, just in case SC.

Well, at least his physical reactions are better than his political ones (although both are quick) :P |

I'm sorry, that's just too dang funny (every time I watch it). Secret service was slow on the draw. They should have shot the guy with some odor eaters before he had time to throw the second shoe. |

Yeah, can you believe he was able to throw TWO shoes before he was stopped?!? Where was the secret service agent throwing himself in front of the president?
I agree, this was Bush's finest moment in office. Excellent dodge. He is a hell of a dodger, come to think of it. |

And 5 years ago, if that were the dictator standing there and that man threw a shoe at HIM, his entire family would have been tortured... at least now the guy has the freedom to throw shoes when he is pissed off or has something to say. :)
Great duck by the prez though. Good eye! |

Actually, my wife & I were just discussing that over dinner. Doing that to Saddam would have probably meant death &/or torture as you point out. We were contemplating if there are stricter punishments for attacking the US president there in Iraq or here in the US. Seriously, what is going to happen to that guy now?
My favorite part, and kudos to Bush for this, is the way he seemed to laugh about it even as he ducked, almost like it was a friendly snow ball fight.

The true irony here is that this one guy did more with a shoe to unite the Iraqi people than Bush has been able to do with 200,000 troops.

I understand after viewing the tape Yankees GM Brian Cashman is willing to offer the reporter 25 million per year. |

My mother was deadly accurate with them. I quickly learned not to leave my size 14 shoes laying around. Weapons of mass destruction! |

In the Middle East, anything to do with your feet/shoes is considered quite rude. Certainly throwing your shoes at someone would be a serious insult. It sounds a bit silly to the Western mind, but to those familiar with the regional culture, it's quite a strong statement. |

Every married man has had to develope those same reflexes, Bush again did nothing spectacular.
ETA; I wish Bush would have yelled out Shoe Fight! And tossed one of his Presidental Loafers back at the dude.
