I'm in! I can't pass up the opportunity to put this guy in his place. Have you ever seen the comments he leaves me? |
Start taking better pictures and I won't have to leave you comments like I do... I just call 'em like I see 'em. |

Morning bump.
We've presently got 33 names. So that goinskiing, who was the 33rd person to come along, can get a go, I'll keep it open for new people. I can work the numbers if we have 36 or 40 maybe.
Anyone else want to join? |

I need some motivation, so if there is still room...add me to the mix.

That makes 35 now. I just need 1 more.
I thought of a revision based on 36 people as follows:
Round 1 consists of 18 pairs in the head-to-head format. The 18 winners go through, plus the 6 highest-ranked of the 18 people who lost in round 1 (based on the average score of the pics they submitted between the first challenge announced after Jan 1 and the point which they lose their round 1 match)
That makes 24 people in round 2, in 12 pairs in a head-to-head format, the 12 winners go through to round 3 plus the 4 highest ranked losers from round 2 (based on the average score of the pics they submitted between the first challenge announced after Jan 1 and the point which they lose their round 2 match)
That makes 16 people in round 3 and from there it's a straight knockout.
How does that sound? With 36 it seemed tricky to work out with byes, plus sending through the highest-ranked losers from each round rewards performance during the tourney, as opposed to past performance, which seems fairer to me.
I will take Ecce Signum's advice and draw all the rounds at the start so everyone can see who you're going to play in the next round.

If you need a 36th, still, I'm game. I'm as good as a bye for most people. :) |

OK then, I've built an Excel spreadsheet with lots of RAND() functions in that randomly draws out the pairs, for all the rounds all the way to the final.
I need a volunteer who's not one of our 36 to carry out the draw (I don't want to do it myself to keep it all above board). Basically, I'll email them the spreadsheet. When it opens up on their screen it will calculate the whole draw from round 1 until the final. Whatever draw that generates will be the "official" draw.
Would anyone like to volunteer? Perhaps any SC members in the vicinity? |

I'd be glad to run the draw.
I'd also like to be put on a "reserve" if someone drops out before the compitition begins.

I ran the draw and sent it back. It looks like a great competition.
Now, will someone just back out so I can be a part? ;-)

Disclaimer: This is the draw that I pasted into the excel chart. It MAY or MAY NOT be the final draw being used. And I may be a real jerk by publishing this round before it was intended to be published, and therefore may be redone in order to keep the mystic and mystery in place. Or, it may be changed for any other reason. ;-)
Match 1 cryan versus Soulman1978
Match 2 alans_world versus tpbremer
Match 3 Lonni versus limerick
Match 4 ladpupmoe versus hajeka
Match 5 JimiRose versus ShutterPug
Match 6 basssman7 versus Judi
Match 7 EBJones versus alain
Match 8 LydiaToo versus aplomb76
Match 9 sjl2116 versus JulietNN
Match 10 Ecce Signum versus mpeters
Match 11 Incubus versus karmat
Match 12 vlado versus goinskiing
Match 13 ivale28 versus Hot_Pixel
Match 14 JaimeVinas versus Dirt_Diver
Match 15 jasonlprice versus toddhead
Match 16 colorcarnival versus brat
Match 17 sempermarine versus Quigley
Match 18 dainmcgowan versus andrewt
is what shows up for Round 1, assuming I did it right.
Now - someone get scared and drop out. Please, please, please. ;-)

I'll jump in against imagesbytlp to make it an even number :). It would be like a BYE round for imagesbytlp. ;)
