Well, I'm used to musskeetas... Do you have any Salton images? |
I went there January 2008. I spent far too much time re-editing these to post here tonight, but here you go. |
Salton Sea is probably the closest thing to Hell on Earth that you will ever find. Why anyone would choose to go there is beyond me.

Almost all of the places that I want to visit are tropical islands. Yap is currently at the top of my list, but there are lots of others.
I want to save those poor islanders from their heathen ways and teach them about the bible and Christianity and...
...just kidding!!!
Actually I'd scuba dive all day and drink Mai Tais all night. I'd photograph the reefs and fishes and pretty scantily clad island girls.

There's a lot of beauty to be found on those sorts of harsh environments, if you take the time to look. I'd personally go back to Death Valley given the chance - I've already spent about a month there.
Most people leave within a day, thinking there's nothing redeeming about the place at all. I suspect the Salton Sea is quite similar. On my list of places to go now, too. |

Originally posted by PaulE: Hmm, if it was only one place I would make it happen. Having made it happen the one place would change. And on. I have already made a few happen. Right now I think the one place would be the Okavango Delta. And I would shoot wild-life. To make this one happen I need a much better telezoom... |
Been there...twice : ) At the time, my biggest zoom was my 40-150 and that was plenty (so now you can't use that zoom excuse : )). I even used a wide angle a few times because you can get so close to some of the animals (monkeys, monitor lizards, fish eagles, crocs, elephants--even though you'll be in a truck or boat for those last two). That delta is one of my favorite places in the world. Chobe (only a few hours away) is also an awesome place for wildlife photos. It's like a zoo without cages! You can stand in one spot and see nearly every single type of animal that lives in the area. You should totally go! Sorry for the gushing, but Botswana is so incredible!
So, my pick. I can't decide it I'd choose somewhere I've never been before or if I'd return to somewhere I've already been now that my photo skills are a bit better.
Never been: Either New Zealand for the landscapes; or India or Afghanistan for the people.
Already been: Zimbabwe or Malawi for the people. |

It is an old thread, but I see that I never answered so:
I want to go to the Banja of my uncle in-law in the Ural.
Why: Because it is the best relax place in the world.
When: Now.
Photos: No.
And now I want my bed and wish to sleep. Numbers are dancing in my head.

The Pitcairn Islands. The islands are best known for being the home of the descendants of the Bounty mutineers and the Tahitians who accompanied them. Would love to visit and take photo's of everything.

To the top of Mt Everest (and back down again safely) on a clear day -- because that would mean I would be sufficiently fit to get up there (and the views would be incredible as well). |

Tanzania - I'd climb Mount Kilimanjaro, a dream of mine and would follow that up with a safari! |

For the coffee and food, of course :)
From what I have read, Venice is full of wonderful statuary and architecture that you just can't see anywhere else in the world. That is what I would photograph. As much of it as I could. |
I didn't notice much statuary compared with other places in Italy, but there are a lot of interesting nooks and crannies.

Hell, I imagine, one would choose to visit for the pitchers -not for the girls or some balmy climate. Dante, apparently, thought so too and brought back some interesting imagery. |
