There were 15-20 people in line when I arrived about two minutes before the polls were scheduled to open at 7:00am, and another 15 or so joined the line behind us
before the voting started ... the line was still 30-40 people when we left about 25 minutes later |

Is it just me, or does the U.S. allow voting results from the eastern side of the country to be shown WAAAAYYY too early to the rest of the country?

I'm totally freaking out right now. I'm 98% sure Obama will win at least the electorate vote (he has 175 and McCain has 52) but I'm still sitting at the "election center" at my college looking on 2 computers, a projected screen of CNN, and checking updates on my phone. I have to go to class now and I don't know what I'm gonna do...probably skip out early :p |

it's not up right now but they had a desk where things were projected onto and the reporter pressed thing on a screen and it would put things on the desk and the camera moved around to different angles. It's a little shakey but they had the white house and the senated seats and a graph projected on the desk and it looked pretty realist. It's just funny because the reporters can't see what's showing up on the table

CNN just ran through a scenario where even if McCain bags ALL of whats left on the board (except California, Oregon, and Washington), he still would fall short of the magic 270 number. Still a projection though... and knowing past elections, *anything* is possible.
ETA: Both are surprisingly close in popular votes to this moment.

It is over. Obama is already at 207 and with what's left he's on pace for over 300, which is 30 more than he needs.

CNN has called 207 electoral votes for Obama.
Now add the definite democrat states: California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.
That gives Obama 284 electoral votes. The election is won, my friends. |

Yanko doesn't get to! Somebody else has to say what Yanko's already said, then HE gets to start the new thread. That's the Yankoing rule of DPC. |

Oh well. |
I understand why you voted for him.
I just don't think that's the way to break away from 2 party rule. |
Actually, it's the only way.
If he got 5% of the popular vote then the Libertarians would receive the same funding as the dems and repubs along with a podium at the debates in 2012. I don't see any other feasible way, do you?

Im just glad I got out and voted, I feel I'm a part of this-- and even though, my state (MI) was pretty much decided that Obama was gonna win B4 today, I had a chance to vote for stem cell research and Medical marijuana... Just glad I have a voice! |
