BTW you will see a double line in the ranking this month. Users above the double line are mathematically possible to climb to 1st place. However, users below the line are mathematically out of the running for first place. For those users please continue to participate and see how high you can climb in the rankings by the years end.

Thanks for everyone's participation.
Scott.

Craaaaaaaaaaaaaap!!! I dropped to twelfth!
10/08/2008 05:45:53 AM · #4
Much to my surprise, I still moved up three places with a 5.7. I am having much more fun this year doing somewhat better. Nobody really doing well is in any danger from me at 42nd place, but like I said, I am enjoying this year's competition.

I already have my October entry submitted!!!

Of course, as we all know, that could change in an instant.....LOL!!!

Scott - Thanks for the double line. Unfortunately I'm on the wrong side of it, but hey, it sure makes it easier to find my stats! :-D

Moved up 11 places - Hooray! Out of 30 Free Studies I've entered, this past one was my best score/placing yet.

Thanks for all you do with the FSM Scott...it's fun! :-)

I'm the first one on the wrong side of the double line. I guess I'll be shooting for second place! LMAO!!!!

Woot woot, jumped a couple spaces to 32. Totally stoked to be in the top 50 in this one.

As for my *mathematical* possibility of taking first place -- you know what they say about statistics being able to prove anything. If I can sneak into the top 25 I'll be ecstatic.

Great side challenge, Scott ... really has made me start focusing more on the Free Study and taking it more seriously, rather than just chimping through my shots on the 30th and finding something to throw up there. Thanks for all the work you're putting into this to keep it going.

and i'm third on the wrong side of the line. that is a lot closer than i would've thought.

Oddly enough, though, it really motivates me to try to get something this month (and NOV and DEC) to see just how far up i can go.

Sounds like you, me and Terry ( Doyle) have our own little 1, 2, 3 race going on - just south of the double line! :-D

Was a great FS for me :) Just sneaked past MAK, got my 7th personal top ten score in 2008, top 20 in the FS (just) and my 96% percentile score means I now have all the 90+ percentile scores - BINGO

It goes without saying - thanks Scott :)

Yahoo! After falling on my face last month I moved up from 21st to 17th. My next goal is to get up there in the top ten so I'll have to find a top ten shot this month.

A big thanks to Scott for continuing FSM.

HUGE congrats to Jen (njsabs2323) because I think she is absolutely rocking (as usual) in everything she shoots AND because she is the only one out of the three that I know. Off to check out jdannels and roba.... I imagine I will be appropriately blown away.

*EDIT: jdannels - LOVED that moonlit photo had it with a 10... I love it when I vote in keeping with results :-)
roba - Whatdya know - I commented on your photo too. I am 3 for 3!!

Keep up the great work all of you - amazing portfolios from you all!

WTG Richard :) hey, are you stalking me? in the last 2 FS's you've have been right behind me - ooeer
10/08/2008 06:45:11 PM · #18
Wow. I was wondering why I only moved up 2 spots with a 6.69 and then I noticed that from where I am (15th) to 8th there is only a 44 point difference, and less then 13 points between 15th and 11th. That is some really close scores.

Congrats to everyone on some great finishes, and of course to Scott for taking care of this for us. It is a great inpiration to keep shooting.

a quick and dirty check and dividing your current score by 8 then mutlipying by 9 would place you 7th (if you'd entered all challenges) then mark Simms who has missed 2 challenges would be joint 6th! so I guess the moral of this post is to enter all the free studies ;)

Yeah I've noticed. I would ask my deer to go punch your owls in the face but apparently someone else already did. :P

Well, I had a very bad result this month, and dropped out of the top 3. I don't think I'll get back into the top 3 now. Keeping position in the top 10 at this stage is more about not stuffing up, (and not forgetting to enter).

With all you guys getting such consistent good results each month, the points only vary by a few places. Even if ovaratli in 2nd place blue ribbons every month for the rest of the year, Alain just has to average 30th place (about a 6.25), and he'll still win. Man, when you're good, you're good. :)

Next month I plan to follow Alain around and shoot any bird he attempts to photograph. I also plan to sink Iceland to the bottom of the ocean but that one might be a littler tougher to do. :P

Oooh, just checked my FSM images, 1 SP, 1 B&W Landscape in portrait and 7 Zoo shots!

Now, I'll never knock Zoo shot but will try to enter none Zoo shots for the rest of the year (there goes my third place then lol).
