Interesting stats. I say whatever works for you, stick with it. As you say, zoo shots are not always that easy. My entries have been a little more landscape biased. Gotta get me some of that zoo thing... :)
Landscape 4
Portrait 1
Zoo 1
Architecture 1
Transport 2

Alain, I think its been said in another thread that you just need to submit a shot each month to stay at the top! Oh, and a 6.5 would be your 3rd worst scoring FSM shot this year, shame on you for such low standards lol |

Never did think about it this way, lol :)
Edited to add : And with most of my entries outside of the FS hovering around 5 lately, I still think that anything over 6 is great :)

Yup, agree with you Alain, a 6 is well received here to :)So, do you feel the same pressure surfdabbler and I do? I for one am out of my comfort zone and messing with the big boys. |

Ok, first of all, Ecce, Surf and Alain, you guys ARE part of the big boys now. :) (I am trying to climb to the second tier that you guys just left)
For me so far in the FSM:
Sports images: 4
Wildlife (sanctuary): 1
Wildlife: 3
Studio: 1 |

I run the FSM and I never been on of the big boy's :)
Most of my downfall has been not entering on a regular basis. This year I'm going to have to run the full marathon and hope for 6+ on every challenge. At least that my goal. |

I can't really say that I'm feeling any pressure. Like I mentionned a few months ago, I never did think that I would be here at this stage of the FSM.
What I think is weird is being in front of all the great photogs on DPC, like Larus, hotpasta, timfythetoo, Judi, jdannels... and many many more... including you Ecce Signum.
I think that it just happened that what I like to shoot (animals and nature) does well in the Free Study. |

Scott, is there any way you might be able to do me a favour and look on the spreadsheet and tell me what my overall average was on Jan 1 2008, when we started?
thanks. |

I find this an interesting stat:
Through September 2008
FSM Members: 176
Participated: 161
Total Participation: 91%
Members above Avg: 121 (69%)
Members Below Avg: 40 (23%)
Non-Participating: 15 ( 9%)
Pretty good stats, IMO! 91% of the users that signed up for the 2008 season have participated and 69% of them have improved their avg. while only 23% have not. And with so many users close to their DPC avg with three months to go; I'm sure we will have >70% above avg.
Good work everyone.

You know, it just occurred to me that people might be thinking I mean that I believe some people are probably cheating in the 2008 FSM.
I just wanted to clear this up if that's the case.
No, no, no.
I meant on DPC as a whole, I have no doubts that cheating happens now and then. Man, I honestly didn't mean to imply that I think that there's any kind of cheating going on for the 2008 FSM itself. Although I'm looking at you ! |

I'm in the process of making a simple site to explain the workings of the FSM. I have put it online however it's not finished and will be updated throughout the signup period. Hopefully during the 2009 season I will have it on a server that supports php and MySql so updates will be in realtime and more information such as individual stats and profile will be available.
Even though not complete you can visit the site and view the welcome page, FSM history, and the 2009 season rules. ~more to come.

Note: If you see any spelling or grammar errors please PM me so I can fix the problem. I'm not the best at explaining things, so be patient with me :) |

A friendly Reminder
To signup all you need to do is send me a PM letting me you want to participate.
You must signup by sending a PM. That's the only way I know for sure I have everyone in that wants to participate.
Thanks in advance.
