Hmm...having only viewed 13 images on this site, you must be referring to thumbnail views of images. A thumbnail rarely does a photo justice. Try viewing the images at full size and see if your opinion changes.

Hmmm, last time I checked, it's kind of frustrating using the gallery to search for good images...
Better go to the challenge history. At least they're ordered by voting preference :-)

Well, I dont need to view the images at full size to determine that they are bad, busy background taking attention away from the product, tones, products, titles, etc.
Ahh... I took a quick look at your profile glad2badad and just saw a link to the McCain website and I can determine just from that how bad your taste is.
I am just talking about the advertising images, the ones in the contests ofcourse are really good and beyond my current level.
There was a critique forum so I am expressing my opinion.
Salutations from Barcelona. |

Sorry, but you don't know how wrong this statement is. |

Anyone else finding this thread vaguely nonsensical? I'm not really sure what this guy is trying to say or prove... Bad advertising photography? It's not like this site has some exclusive objective to produce only top quality advertising photographers, what's the point in seemingly having a swipe at everyone on here?
Way to lose friends before you've made them mate. |

- Hmmm, popcorn and coffee? Bleh. Anyone have a bagel? Muffin perhaps? Ok...I'll settle for a donut. :-) The entertainment in this thread is certain to continue. |

delphikiexposure, the Critique Club forum area is for our users who are members of the Critique Club, a group of DPChallenge participants who volunteer time to give in depth critiques on photos. I've moved your thread into the proper area for general photography discussion. If you'd like to join, please Contact Us.
In addition, you may want to take a peek at our Forum Rules which prohibit personal attacks on other users.

Did not mean to offend anybody in the first place and if I did I apologize.
Second, I am not trying to start a war and I did not said specifics on which I saw that in my opinion were poor ad photos.
Third a critique is a critique, I was proven wrong by the link sent by Medoomi but I still see lots of bad ones (don't kill me for expressing my opinion.)
I always find people in forums like this a little hostile, maybe I was and I expressed myself wrong but definately without intention. |

You may simply want to re-think how you're introducing yourself to a new forum. People here want to learn and they appreciate solid critiques. When someone new comes along and makes a broad statement to say that their photography stinks, what other kind of reaction would you expect?
Further, you're making this statement without having first proven yourself as an expert in the field. If you had been here for some amount of time and/or had a mind-blowing portfolio of advertising shots to showcase your talents, then perhaps people would be more receptive to hearing from you. But you haven't participated in a challenge, and are admittedly only looking at thumbnail shots as the basis of your opinion.
Rather than jump right in with a stinging criticism, why not attempt a few challenges to see how YOU fare? I've been here many years, and it's always interesting to see how well the "experts" do their first time out.

Had a look at that link to your profile at JPEG magazines site. Got a chuckle out of Untittled_003. I think she is very well tittled. (Ok, I just had to get that lame pun in, sorry.)
BTW, what is m.flickr.com? M for Menu? It does not look like the usual Flickr.
I see you do a lot of abstracts. Some interesting stuff. I'll be looking to see how your abstracts fare in challenges.

On the other hand, some of the advertising type shots are downright brilliant ;-)

WE, as a member community, should remember that respecting one's opinions to further skill sets is the basis of DPC.
HOWEVER, we reserve the right not to agree.
The man from Spain expressed his thoughts, some not so well trained, obviously, but it is up to you, the mature, adult like member to determine if what he says hits the mark, or if the mark was missed.

Hey delphikiexposure,
Welcome to the sight have fun, the forums can be a little... tense... at times. In the end though we're all just here to learn from each other! Look forward to seeing you in some of the challenges.

Okay.......for sake of discussion, let's take that as a given, though I'm here to compete in challenges and learn from people who offer help and suggestion.
I'm not sure how the OP's post reflects that in any manner. |

His OP may not of been as eloquent as many of your posts are JEB, and his grammar may have needed some attention.
His admittance of being a neophyte with his gear, and being a new-ish registered visitor to DPC gives him some leeway in HOW he comments or critiques.
Ignorance of the rules of DPC, and etiquette should be given pity to the newbie.
Not everyone is given the God given talent in posting exhilarating, thought provoking, wet your pants, gut jarring statements.
That's how it reflects in this manner.
