No, sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that they are not, it was more an observation, but I would however guess that the percentage of 100% commentors is quite low wouldn't you think so?

Hah:-)

I wouldnt know if my skills are improving (they certainly look so if I look at past 2 challenges and this entry), but it is true that I am a pal with the 4's now (and occasional 3's). Most annoying are the super-charged voters who discard the comment box beneath;-) But oh well, I have learnt that the best way to deal with that annoyance is to comment yourself more, and hope for the blessings (yeah right ;-).. I have a new goal on my profile page, the last one about mandatory commenting ideas gone now.

Absolutely. 100% commenting is difficult, especially if it's being done with quality comments. It's very time consuming. Some have made that commitment and when they do they can get a fun icon to display - thanks to Judi and her 100% comments club.

I just did that on the immovable challenge (albeit only 53 entries in total). How do I join that club?

That comment is the dreaded "Good shot!". Back to the drawing board.

Better than "Dreadful shot". :-D

ahh, but "dreadful shot" usually means you have a dreadful shot. "Good Shot" means, "Nothing special, sort of liked it, wanted to comment but have nothing to say, next."

Infinitely worse ;)

Nah. If they took the time to comment, it means it made them stop for that extra time to do so. They liked it. To me, that's valuable. And a 5.8 is not a sucky shot, by the way - not in these parts! (If it is, I have a whole lot of sucky shots that I think are really pretty darn good.)

Oh dear, now I will never get encouragement from "Good shot" again. But you are so right. Ho hum :(

And for what it's worth, my "good shot" is slowly recovering from a very bad beginning:

My point was more to the fact that someone with say an average given vote of 3.x to low 4.x might think that as they vote consistently they are not doing any harm, however, if they only vote regularly on say 65% or less of images in any given challenge they are in effect penalising those they vote on more so than Mr or Mrs Joe Blogs scorer with a 5.x +

ETA: My score is on a downward spiral now anyway so I guess I misjudged the shot :(

Prash - click on the 100% comments club link in the message you quoted - that will take you to the thread. Post your stats for the challenge you voted 100% on and in time Judi will get there and award you your ribbon - you can then put it on your profile page. And good for you!

If they vote randomly it averages out over the challenges. But random is the key here, because some voters cherrypick and will not give a low score on some images, having the opposite effect.

You have a good point there. Not sure on how to avoid that bias though.. perhaps have a mandatory 100% voting? Yikes... almost bit the monsters again:-) But jokes apart, perhaps a club like Judi's 100% comment club - a 100% voter's will help? Or like others suggested, have 100% voting required challenges once in a while?

I think Judy has been around long enough to know the rules. She did not call out a specific shot. Do you know how many shots of that type are in the challenge? Lots

Thanks. Rules are for everyone, and I have been respectful in hinting that. Please do not justify that, it wouldnt set a good example for newbies.

The dof is shallow, everything is in focus. Hmmmm... a comment on why the score is so low would help more !
Good luck to everyone else !

If everything is in focus, that could be a problem for your score and the interpretation of voters. They are expecting areas of out of focus and a specific area that is in focus that draws their attention. But, then again, maybe I misunderstood your comment here....

Sorry - I worded that badly. What I mean is the foreground element is sharp and in focus.
And now it's dropped to 3.8 but still no comments.
Am all for the idea that commenting for people who vote 1-3's is compulsary so it isnt seen as basic trolling but general reasoning for such a low score.
Getting a low score is one thing, but getting a low score and no reason why denies you the chance to learn and improve.
