A local magazine held a photo contest, so I entered 3 images (the maximum allowed). They wanted images that showed the charm of McKinney... Well, here are the results

AND

1st AND 3rd!!!!

To top it off, there was prize money! My first win... soon I can catch up with Konador!

Its a great showing, but who is that Sheri girl getting 2nd?? I think you should have gotten the sweep. Show your 3rd entry and let the unbiased folks at DPC judge if you should have gotten all 3. :)

$150 American Dollars :-) Which I've already spent on the Sigma 50-500!

i always wondered how you can get shots like sheri's...how do you do an outdoor shot with long shutter without exposing due to natural light? sorry, just a beginner here...

because i always wanted to do that water effect...

To do a shot like that you will need a neutral density filter. It basically allows less light in requiring a longer shutter speed. Also a nice thing to have if wanting shallow depth of field using flash or studio lighting.

Congrats Danny !!!! You've come a really long way this year !

Congrats

Not to be a party pooper, but if you win one place, you shouldnt be able to take another place as well. I know if I were entered in that, and I saw that the same person took more than one finishing, I'd be upset.

Good job Dan. You da man. Would have won all 3 if you would have used a Canon. Must be great to see your photos in print.

Have to disagree with Jeremy --- the fact that the same person did win two places in the competition tells me that they really did judge it on the merits of the pictures entered and nothing else.

And if I were ever to win anything (including 3rd prize) I'd want to know I won it because my image was the 3rd best entered and not because of any other reason.
