How do you know the exact votes you received???? I can just see how many votes and the average. |

how do you know what vote score you get?
the only way i know i get a certain score is from the commenters who tell me. |

They are using secret voodoo maths skills. You have to sacrifice a squirrel per vote you want to know.
Alternatively, it might just be basic algebra, but that just doesn't sound like fun.

lets see...here's a sampling between votes 54 & 71 for the free study
7,1,1,8,5,8,1,7,8,5,6,1,6,6,7,1,7,8,9
Funny how we're lacking any 2,3 or 4's
& my motion blur just lost 4 :(

I maded a spreadsheet, and I note the score every once and a while: # votes, avg. The spreadsheet calculates from the last time I looked how many votes, and what the avg of that group was. If I check often or if the votes come in slowly enough to catch one, it shows me exactly what the score was.
Easy for me to do since I am also running tasks that I am constantly "waiting" for on the computer. If I was bored, I could write a program to automatically poll the site... but I'm not bored...

Good tracking. Clearly there's nothing wrong going on here. LOL.
I am sure Langdon and Drew can track this down since all individual scores are actually kept.
The interesting thing is that this can't be one individual. I don't believe its a large group. So that leaves the sysops (joke) or a system hack of some sort. |

mmm.wonder if they can hack my score up a little ? |

You could figure it out like this: (Will only work if you catch them one voter at a time...)
Newest vote = (Current average score x current number of comments) - (Previous average score x previous number of comments)
If you do this after more than one person has voted it will give you the average score for whatever number of votes happened between your current and previous scores.
See? Algebra did pay off after all. ;)

Maybe there's something tied into the "update" button, LOL - just for those of us who're so addicted to it, we go down a bit everytime we click it!

My Out of place looks similar...
End of watcing last night...8,1,5,7,4,1
then an over night avg of 2.9
first thing this morning...1,5,8,1 (Missed some) 7,1,-3 avg 4.3-,7,2,1,
The high to low swing is evident and I will be so bold as to say, especially for the free study, it's a DAMN GOOD PIC! lol

Maybe I have not hit the 'bad' pics yet? 1/3rd of the way through, lowest scores are 2x3 and 4x4 - I think there are lots of great pics. |

Mine started at 5.9... now at 5.0... what is going on. Ok, i shouldn't be whining here but i'm just wondering how they're (the voters) interpreting "out of place". |

I must join in because my scores have also PLUNGED by a whole point in one day. Boo hoo. I went from 6.1 to 5.2. I'll be optimistic and say it's because of the tremendous quality of the other photos in the march challenge and not the pessimistic approach that people are voting low so theirs will get a higher mark. This is usually not true in member challenges so it looks like I'll have to brush up on all my technical stuff (which seems to be the comments I get consistently from other challenges). So... on the bright side... I'm learning. |

Everyone is going to be very happy tonight when our scores jump back up.
Add 1 point to your free study and .5 to your others.
I hope :) |

Maybe for every 7 you get a 1.

Hey, instead of a CryptoQuote its a CryptoVote. You know:
7 = 1
6 = 0
5 = -1
4 = -2
3 = -3
2 = -4
1 = -5
Cool.
