As I mentioned earlier - all that 'right click' prevention does is annoy people with legitimate reasons to copy/ modify/ manipulate images and does nothing to actually protect the image from infringement.
DRM is a tricky issue. Most 'obvious' first steps just damage fair use and don't actually provide any protection.
There are startlingly similar parallels to a lot of 'anti-terrorist' measures which do a lot to frustrate people without actually providing any real protection. |

So, for the Orange challenge, for example, DPC should ask to receive, conservatively, 700MB+ of raw shots?
Even if they are received... and stored... for each challenge, there is no (non-processor intensive) way to match the original to the shot, because of editing. |

The funniest thing, read her journal entries.... I almost died! :)
Yeah, WHY did she delete so many pictures? hmmmmm
btw, how do you guys find these things? Or how do you see where your ripped pics are at?

knowing a lot of people online has it's advantages. There are only so many photo sites. one or two of my dpc friends saw one of my pics on this person's site and confronted them. they deleted it and some others. then, when i looked, i discovered a bunch more that i had seen other places.
but in the end, it was just dumb luck.
this is my pic that this person stole

I was thinking about this and the forum they have at Deviant Art about rips. Maybe there should be one here too? It might at least make the discussion more noticeable, and easier to find.

I don't think a special forum on ripping is needed on DPC. I think we are a fairly tight community, as exhibited in this thread.
The laughable thing is that DA has such a problem with this, that they need to have a special forum folder. The difference, it seems to me, is that everyone here on DPC who actively participates obviously watches out for each other, from registered users, to members, straight to the admins, and not one person has tolerance for it. The "culture" is different. |

New challenge topic:
Whitereflection: Create a photo showing your perception of the person known as Whitereflection.
What would people come up with?

This is obviously a game being played by a sad and pathetic person, that requires/craves attention.
All things being equal even Whitereflections gender should be in question.

amazing...
my post
"Man, I can't believe you... trying to blow off your deletions like that... It's rather obvious that they were never yours to start with; that you STOLE them. The only thing for you to do was delete them. And try to cover yourself like that is rather pointless, don't you think? I mean, we sort of all know now where they came from..."
her reply
"Ha. You really thought I'd delete some of them for that reason?"

Funny thing is, she's back online now, trying to blow it off, like it's no big deal.

I just sent a note to a Deviant Art staff member that Im friendly with. Just have to see what happens. The DA site is huge, and sometimes takes awhile for the busy staff to get to each issue. I cant find any stats handy, but the amount of submissions they get would make your head spin. Hope we hear something soon. The idea that this ripper thinks she can get away with this irks the hell out of me.

Deviations:
4,630,826
Over 4 and a half million submissions to that site in just about 3 years. It has to be tough on the admins.

Unbelievable! However, about the argument concerning greater security...
What harm has this woman(?) really done? Of course it is completely wrong, but as far as I can see, the only person who is really losing here is her. When I put my pictures here, and people tell me they like them, I have a reason to feel good about myself. That appears to be the reason why she has done this, but I can't imagine it feels good for long. No-one is making any money from pictures that have been ripped off from here (as far as I'm aware), and I would be flattered if somebody with self-worth issues thought I was worth emulating.
She's even provided us with much entertainment... how funny are those journal entries?!
This person obviously has problems and needs some help.

That's the key - it is quite amazing how good an 8x10 you can make from a 640x480 image. They are also big enoug for mugs/ keychains/ t-shirts and other stuff that people sell at DA
