To kill a squirrel and nail him to a tree for the sake of a photograph is, in my view, a bit desperate. Granted, it's superb in every way but it doesn't excuse this kind of cruelty. ;D

Thanks for the comments! I nicknamed this guy 'Mr. Studly' because he's just such a dude. I thought for sure he'd win! :)

For those who were wondering - this guy is not tame or domesticated or fed. I had to stalk him very very carefully and slowly and painstakingly and then when he looked out from around his tree to see where I was, blammo, I got his pic! This is almost a 100% crop, which is why it looks a little grainy.

This was also my top pick for the week, it should have gotten a ribbon for sure!

This is the cutest shot on here. Great close up. He must be your little buddy. Do you feed him lots of nuts? I think it should have took 1st, but cute doesn't always win. ;-)

I like the framing and composition of this pic for the most part. The background color is just a little too bright and creating too much contrast. I think part of it is that it is so bright it SEEMS like the squirrel is darker than he really is. I think by selecting that color and desatuting and darkening it a bit the squirrel would not seem quite so dark. I think he is just a little underexposed.

Gorgeous shot! (Not too in love with the border, though) This is one of my absolute favorites this week. The resolution in the whiskers is fantastic; color saturation is perfect, and the lighting works very well. Shallow DOF really draws my attention back to the subject. --10!

Great composition. The best shot like this I've seen this challenge (so far). A tad more sharpness (and lightness) wouldn't have gone amiss, but this is still very good. Is the squirrel friendly or do you have a long lens?

this shot has 'character'... the right side composition makes it very strong and the diagonal adds lots of strength to the composition... great shot :) - setzler

The backlighting made him a little dark. Try spot-metering right on the squirrel. I love the composition, though. Peek-a-boo!
