recently i was learning about how speakers work and although I sorta knew already about sound waves, something just dawned on me. The earth is a completely silent place. What you call noise and sounds, only exist in your head after your brain has translated the pulsations of your ear drum.

Hopefully this won't impact activities of anyone here, but don't count on urine being sterile. I believe there are some kidney diseases that will contaminate urine. Also, if there is a bacterial infection downstream, you can count on the urine picking up some nasties. |
Not to flaunt my wildside, but as said above, urine is only sometimes sterile. I found this out when i mysteriously passed my kidney infection on to my gf....... |
Too much information

Yup, and it takes the light of our sun a little over 8 minutes to travel the 93 million miles to earth. At the same rate of speed, it would take 4.22 years to reach the next closest star! |

Many multi-storey buildings (particularly apartment blocks) in Japan don't have a fourth floor - elevator buttons will have 1.2.3.5.6., but no 4. (I think the same is true for China).
The reason for this is that one way to say 4 in Japanese is shi (based on the Chinese pronunciation), and this is a homophone for death. |

Yup, that's another myth Mythbusters busted. They taught some goldfish to swim through some holes to get to food or something. |
