As a snack I have 10-15 grams of almonds, walnuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, pistachios, or cashews, all unsalted, of course. Don't overeat though cuz these things can get you gaining weight rather than losing it rather fast. Lots and lots of water too. I find I can drink more if I leave it at room temperature, unless it's a 100 degrees outside. ;]

I have been eating seeds and nuts, mostly almonds, peanuts, and mixed variety offerings from Costco for a while now. I didn't think about the gain weight from them however.

I guess I should get a regular routine together as far as getting the card's active.

I drink tons of water, but I also drink 0 calorie, Lipton diet green tea.

The recipe you advise looks sound. Will give a try and advise on progress.

Thanks.

20 pounds gone!!!

/does the happy dance :) wow, I can do it longer too. lol

My initial goal was 25 lbs but i'm going for 30 instead since this was easier than I had thought. Not saying it's simple but my motivation is still sky high so why not continue riding the wave. ;]

I see this thread hasn't had any posts for a while...just wondering how everyone is doing on their weight loss journey. My weight loss has been slow but consistent...I've lost 36 pounds so far with more to go.

Glad to see this resurrected somewhat. I joined a transformation challenge at my local Gold's Gym and though I haven't really weighed myself since I started January 5th, I have been availing myself of the services of a personal trainer who has been doing a wonderful job of rigorously conditioning me. My goal is to get past the progression point and into the maintenance area.

I have *NO* idea how long that'll be, but this program has created a resurgence in my determination to get to the healthiest point in my life.

That is my goal...to be healthy for the first time in years and I know it's not going to happen overnight. I do some exercising but not near enough so I need to make that a priority.

Sandra, the thing I find the most fulfilling is that I feel so much better than I have in years. I had pretty much resigned myself to feeling rotten and tired as a by-product of being over 50. Now, much to my amusement, and relief, I feel better than I have for at least 10 years.

Have you noticed that old age is getting older?........8>)

I need ideas for motivation. (I know in the end I have to do it for me but at the moment I am clearly not motivated enough.)

When I'm at the gym and I am working out, I visualize myself on the beach in a bikini, and I think about how i DO look vs. how I WANT to look. Works every time.

I guess that's along the same lines as posting a picture on the mirror of what I want to look like. I'll need some photoshop for that. LOL

Hey, I could practice my photoshop skills as well as get motivated for weight loss.

I haven't posted in this thread but I will post more soon as I have a pretty good story to tell..... but back to motivation.

Always remember when working out that the muscle you need to work on the most is the one between your ears.YOU are your own motivation, nothing is more important then YOU and YOU can be anything YOU want to be, it is all up to YOU.

These are the sort of things that I draw strength and motivation from nothing from the outside just everything from within, the balls in your court.

I have a pic of what I used to look like (a lot smaller) on my refrigerator...when I open the door it makes me think twice about over eating....lol Actually I wish I could photoshop myself too...it would be easier than eating healthy and exercising....lol

Oh, we all KNOW that!

It just sucks to face it and make it happen!......8>)

That first 100 pounds I lost was a breeze! I was miserable and scared.....the weight just melted off with minimal effort & exercise.

I now am working my @$$ off merely to pull a pound off here and there and am kind of frustrated at how much of my life is being taken up trying to get back into the good habits while I have a life going on around me.

I think I posted my disillusionment with my scales story earlier in the thread. After getting myself geared back up, I rejoined the journey on December 28 and have lost 13 pounds (for real this time -- my clothes are proving it).

I need to get back on this myself...haven't weighed myself in weeks, but I'm afraid (and pretty sure) I gained some of that lost weight back (not all, fortunately).

I've been missing a ton of workouts due to sickness. Unfortunately, being sick hasn't slowed my eating down too much. ;-)

I entered a local gym's transformation challenge.

I actually put a bunch of weight back on......and my scale at home sucks relative to a decent, calibrated, accurate one......

I have lost 11.4 pounds since January 5th, but my body fat numbers have been going down and having coughed for a personal trainer, I am really feeling terrific.

Anyway....I guess my point is that it's still a struggle, and it's ongoing, but I am truly determined to get, and stay, healthy.

I'm 5 weeks into a 8 week program at my local gym. My results have been excellent although I did put on a little weight in week three, which was a first weight gain for 6 months.
Yesterday I went crazy at the gym spent 45 min on Cardio machines then a 45 min cycle class then an hour long weight challenge class. I burnt 2450 calories !! in one day. My trainer was not real impressed with this over working when she found out but I felt so good I just wanted to keep going.

Yeah, it's kinda weird how that works.

I'm supposed to do 45 or so minutes of cardio, five times a week, I try for seven, generally hit 6, and train two days a week, and try to put in at least two more half hour sessions with the weights.

I'm afraid that the time that I have is going to vanish when I can no longer justify it for a program, but I feel better than I have in 25 years.

Funny thing? My leg measurement when I started was 21 inches and 32% bodyfat. When I got measured last Saturday at the halfway point of this challenge, it was 22 inches and 18% bodyfat!

My other measurements were reasonably improved but nothing like my legs were.

Cardio works!

OK so I had to convert from Kgs to Pounds so the numbers have been rounded up in places.

These are my weights since I have been serious about weight loss and train almost daily.

Before this over the last 5 years my weight fluctuated between a morbidly obese 320 pounds to 250 pounds. Actually I know I weighed more then 320 but I was too scared to weigh myself!!! So 320 is the highest recorded weight but I probably got to a high of around 350

Well.....

That would certainly explain that smug smile plastered on what must be a relatively recent profile image!

Good on you, and congrats on SO many levels!

I was told I was morbidly obese on December 4th, 2007, and given the edict "Change or Die.".

I weighed in at 360 pounds at that time on my scale, and I am down to 250, but I have a way to go before I can really say that I've gotten where I need to be.

You and John Rummel ( strangeghost) are officially my heroes!

ETA: Since you were obviously trying to accomodate the clueless Seppos on the list with the kg/lbs conversion, the least you could have done was to screw up the calendar the way we do it too, ya know!

Ain't I a stinker???? ROFLMSOAO!!!!!
